This text was originally published as part of Ferreira Gullar's 1959–60 serialized history of modern art published in the Sunday supplement of the Jornal do Brasil. Following on the heels of a previous entry that traced the move from the plane to the “non-object” in the recent work of Lygia Clark, Gullar turns his attention here to color as a ...

Mie Resonant Structural Colors
ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2020Structural colors refer to colors produced by the interference of light scattered by judiciously arranged nano- or microscopic structures. In this Forum Article, we discuss the use of Mie resonant scattering in structural colors with dielectric and metal-dielectric hybrid structures to achieve notable figures of merit in pixel size and gamut range ...

Color is the subjective response to the objective stimulus of radiant energy of particular wavelength and intensity. Wavelengths determine hue; intensity determines brightness. Color is identified by three methods: (1) verbal description; (2) sample comparison; and (3) physical measurement.

A computational structure for color perception
Proceedings of the 1975 annual conference on - ACM 75, 1975The problem of constructing an artificial vision system which reflects the limitations and illusions, as well as the power, of human color perception is considered. Several major theories and models of color perception are reviewed and considered in terms of their ability to explain observed color phenomena and their ease of implementation in an ...

Colored cause-effect structures
Information Processing Letters, 1998Relationships between classes of colored cause-effect structures and colored Petri nets are investigated. Cause-effect structures were introduced by L. Czaja for describing concurrent systems.

Mechanochromic Fibers with Structural Color
ChemPhysChem, 2015AbstractResponsive photonic crystals have been widely developed to realize tunable structural colors by manipulating the flow of light. Among them, mechanochromic photonic crystals attract increasing attention due to the easy operation, high safety and broad applications.

Structural diagnosis of interconnects by coloring
ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems, 1998This paper presents a new approach for diagnosing shorts in interconnects in which the adjacencies between nets are known. This structural approach exploits different graph coloring techniques to generate a test set with no aliasing and confounding, i.e., full diagnosis (detection and location) is accomplished. Initially, a simple coloring

Structured Randomized Rounding and Coloring
2007In this paper we propose an advanced randomized coloring algorithm for the problem of balanced colorings of hypergraphs (discrepancy problem). It allows to use structural information about the hypergraph in the design of the random experiment. This yields colorings having smaller discrepancy than those independently coloring the vertices.

[Color categorization and the structure of perceptive color].
Zhurnal vysshei nervnoi deiatelnosti imeni I P Pavlova, 2000This paper is an attempt to develop a coherent framework for understanding, simulating, and predicting color categories. The process of color categorization can be understood as a structuring of preceding color experience on the basis of statistical distribution of light in observers environment.
