Twisting cracks in Bouligand structures

Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2017
The Bouligand structure, which is found in many biological materials, is a hierarchical architecture that features uniaxial fiber layers assembled periodically into a helicoidal pattern. Many studies have highlighted the high damage-resistant performance of natural and biomimetic Bouligand structures.

Modelling of Crack Propagation for Embedded Crack Structure

2020
Inner or embedded cracks were created in the structures of nuclear power plant by fatigue after years of operation time. Embedded cracks which generated in nuclear power plant is modelled as circular cracks in a plane normal to tension loading direction in Probabilistic S-version Finite Element Model (Prob-SFEM).

Structural analysis of superficial cracks on structural elements

2019 16th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE), 2019
This paper addresses the structural dynamics of models of cracked Euler-Bernoulli beams by using finite element methods and modal analysis techniques. The natural frequency is also characterized and analyzed in order to present the decrease in natural frequencies due to the presence of a superficial crack.

A Crack Monitoring Method For Concrete Structures

Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, 2010
Abstract Structural health monitoring is thought to be a promising way to monitor and evaluate the health state of bridges. Crack identification is one of the most important aspects in structural health monitoring, because the collapses of concrete bridges are mostly due to occurrence and propagation of initial cracks.
