Structure design and product design
2010 IEEE 11th International Conference on Computer-Aided Industrial Design & Conceptual Design 1, 2010In the paper, structure is categorized into three kinds firstly: external structure, internal structure and system structure. Secondly, it is given that there is a common development of structure design and product design based on the theory of the three levels of design. Then we list the factors that affect the product design, such as material factor,

Evolutionary Computation in Structural Design
Engineering with Computers, 2000The paper provides the results of preliminary research on the application of evolutionary computation to integrated structural design in which a complex design support tool automatically conducts both conceptual and detailed design. In the paper, a brief overview of the state of the art in evolutionary computation and its applications to structural ...

Structured design of microelectromechanical systems
Proceedings of the 34th annual conference on Design automation conference - DAC '97, 1997In order to efficiently design complex microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) having large numbers of multi-domain components, a hierarchically structured design approach that is compatible with standard IC design is needed. A graphical-based schematic, or structural, view is presented as a geometrically intuitive way to represent MEMS as a set of ...

The application of prolog to structured design
Software: Practice and Experience, 1994AbstractIn this paper, we investigate the feasibility of applying logic programming to structured design. We propose to use Prolog as a common machinery for the representation of various structured tools. We illustrate through examples how to produce structure charts from data flow diagrams, and evaluate them according to commonly recommended design ...

An assessment of structured analysis and structured design
ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Notes, 1986This paper is a personal assessment of the Structured Analysis and Structured Design methods of Tom DeMarco [1] and Edward Yourdon and Larry Constantine [2]. The assessment is a reflection of my experience using Structured Analysis and Structured Design on a multi-person project during the late 1970s.Structured Analysis and Structured ...

The Structure of Design Processes
1989Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the structure of design processes. The design theory comprises of two aims: to construct models of the design process that further enhance the existing theoretical understanding of design and to allow the construction of more rational methods, tools, and systems for supporting the practical design.

The design (as opposed to the choice and use) of data structures has been the subject of relatively little study in the context of formal methods. In this paper, we introduce our ideas on how data structures are designed.

The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1963
The objective of Structural Design is to provide the structure that will permit the aircraft, whether military or civil, to do its job most effectively, that is with the least total effort, spread over the whole life of the aircraft from initial design until the aircraft is thrown on the scrap heap.

Design Environment for Structural Design
2007Design environment for the concept design of multi-deck ship structures is presented. Used approach combines the fast generation of design variants based on the generic 3D-FEM models (using macro-elements) and the two step decision support procedure based on topology and scantling optimization.
