Organizational Structure and Fund Performance: Pension Funds vs. Mutual Funds

This paper examines how the organizational structure of the defined benefit pension fund industry influence the investment decision and performance of pension fund managers. Corporate treasurers, who have an incentive to reduce their own job risk, tend to hire pension fund managers with low tracking error.

This paper provides a contribution to the debate on the role of EU cohesion policy in Italy. The focus is on the territorial effects of EU spending from 1996 to 2007. The empirical analysis considers a neoclassical growth model which is augmented by the structural funds spent by each region.
