Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

BACKTESTING VALUE AT RISK MODELS IN THE PRESENCE OF STRUCTURAL BREAK ON THE ROMANIAN AND HUNGARIAN STOCK MARKETS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Oradea: Economic Science, 2014
Transactions on financial markets are associated with variability, risk and uncertainty, so quantification of risk has a great importance. Beside Standard Deviation and Variance, one of the most involved risk measure methods is Value-at-Risk (VaR).

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Asymmetric Impacts of International Oil Shocks on Domestic Growth Rate and Inflation

open access: yesEast Asian Economic Review, 2005
Oil shocks are unobserved variables. The impacts of oil shocks on macroeconomic variables may be different on how they are defined. Oil shocks are defined as both a price and an oil production shortfall criterion.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

The Efficient Market Hypothesis and Identification in Structural VARs [PDF]

open access: yesReview, 2004
Structural vector autoregression (SVAR) models are commonly used to investigate the effect of structural shocks on economic variables. The identifying restrictions imposed in many of these exercises have been criticized in the literature. This paper extends this literature by showing that if the SVAR includes one or more variables that are efficient in

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Inference of Impulse Responses via Bayesian Graphical Structural VAR Models

open access: yesEconometrics
Impulse response functions (IRFs) are crucial for analyzing the dynamic interactions of macroeconomic variables in vector autoregressive (VAR) models.

DSGE Model Restrictions for Structural VAR Identification [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
The identification of reduced-form VAR model had been the subject of numerous debates in the literature. Different sets of identifying assumptions can lead to very different conclusions in the policy debate. This paper proposes a theoretically consistent identification strategy using restrictions implied by a DSGE model. Monte Carlo simulations suggest
