Structure/Property Relationships of Seashells
MRS Proceedings, 2004ABSTRACTThis study uses various characterisation techniques on the razor shell (Ensis siliqua), to relate the shell's microstructure to its mechanical properties. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) has shown that the outer and inner regions of the shell are composed of simple and complex crossed lamellar microstructures respectively.

Structure–Property Relationship in Capillary Foams
Langmuir, 2021The recently discovered capillary foams are aqueous foams stabilized by the synergistic action of colloidal particles and a small amount of oil. Characteristically, their gas bubbles are coated by a particle-stabilized layer of oil and embedded in a gel network of oil-bridged particles. This unique foam architecture offers opportunities for engineering

Structure–property relationships in conjugated molecules
Materials Science and Engineering: B, 2001Conjugated dendrimers are ideal materials to study the structure-property relationships in conjugated molecules. We have developed a family of dendrimers that contain t-butyl surface groups, stilbene dendrons, and luminescent cores. For porphyrin and tris(distyrylbenzenyl) amine cored dendrimers cyclic voltammetry (CV) showed that the redox processes ...

Molecular structure–property relationships for alkenes
Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling, 2001Structure-property relationships were obtained for 11 physical and chemical properties (boiling points (bp), melting points (mp), molar refractions (MR), molar volumes (MV), heats of combustion (HCKJ), molar heats of vaporization (HVMOL), flashpoints (FLASHK), second virial coefficients (VIRC2), critical temperatures (Tc), critical pressures (Pc), and ...

Structure–Property Relationships in Superconducting Cuprates
Chem. Soc. Rev., 1995An examination of the structure and superconducting properties of the various families of cuprates suggests several interesting structural commonalities. Relations between some of the structural parameters of the cuprates and the superconducting transition temperature, T-c, provide useful insights.

Composite Cathode Structure/Property Relationships
ECS Transactions, 2006Battery active materials are routinely evaluated via the electrochemical performance of their composite electrodes which are prepared with standard formulations and routine processing conditions. The relationship between electrochemical responses and these experimental variables are not commonly explored.

Structure-Properties Relationships
2016This chapter explores the correlations between the microstructures of hard, superhard and ultrahard materials and resulting properties. Key microstructure features and their effect on mechanical properties (hardness, fracture toughness, strength, wear and thermal properties) are discussed.

Mechanical structure–property relationship of aerogels
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2000The elastic moduli (E) of high-porosity materials (such as aerogels) exhibit power-law scaling with their relative densities (rho), E proportional to rho (m)(,) where 3 less than or equal to m less than or equal to 4, but the physics responsible for this behavior is not well-understood, Computer models of aerogels were generated by diffusion-limited ...

Structure/Property Relationships
2002Abstract This chapter examines the effect of heat treating and other processes on the microstructure-property relationships that occur in superalloys. It discusses precipitation and grain-boundary hardening and how they influence the phases, structures, and properties of various alloys.
