Demographic Structure and the Security of Property Rights in Developing Countries – An Empirical Exploration [PDF]
It is often argued that countries with a high population share of children and young workers should attract large capital inflows from aging industrialized economies.

Structure learning of antiferromagnetic Ising models [PDF]
In this paper we investigate the computational complexity of learning the graph structure underlying a discrete undirected graphical model from i.i.d. samples. We first observe that the notoriously difficult problem of learning parities with noise can be

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Disperse reinforced concrete: composition-structure-properties correlations
This study focuses on the influence of metal fibres on the physical and mechanical properties of dispersed reinforced concrete with additions. The final aim is to design and obtain high-performance concrete. Mechanical strength is not always the primary requisite imposed on high-quality concrete.

Structure–Property Correlation behind the High Mobility of Carbazolocarbazole
A comparative study of carbazolocarbazole isomers and their respective N-alkyl derivatives confirms the good performance of carbazolo[2,1-a]carbazole as hole transporting material in organic field effect transistors. The azaphenacene structure of this molecule forms a dense packing promoted by particularly short longitudinal shifts between molecules ...

This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Preamble-aided time delay estimation in frequency selective channels for wireless OFDM systems
In this Letter, an improved method for estimating the time delay in preamble-aided orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems is presented. It uses a conventional preamble structure and combines cross-correlation techniques to achieve estimations
