Social Structure and Language Structure
Journal of Anthropological Research, 1964T HE SEARCH FOR VALID ANALOGIES between the structure of language and the structure of other aspects of culture is an important part of modern anthropological thought. Recent students of this problem seem to fall into two general groups: (1) those followers of Whorf who, in a variety of ways, are seeking congruencies between the language and the ...

Structure of bicategorical structures
Mathematical Notes of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1974We prove that the totalities of bicategorical structures in categories of associative rings and topological spaces are not sets.

Kenneth Waltz is a structural theorist. While scholars often comment on Waltz's conception of structure, they rarely address the philosophical assumptions behind it — assumptions that go back to Kant and finally to Aristotle. Appropriately situated, Waltz's conception of structure points to a strong version of constructivist social theory.

The structure of “data structures”
Proceedings of the ACM '81 conference on - ACM 81, 1981A data structure is defined to be a 4-tuple D, F, S, A>. D and F are Domain and Function definitions which define the externally observable behavior; S and A are a Storage Structure and Algorithms which implement the functions. It is shown that this definition helps organize the field of data structures for presentation to students.

On the structure of factorization structures
1982For any category K we investigate the family of all factorization structures on K. In particular, for each such structure, (E,M), we investigate the complete lattice of all factorization structures on K with left factor a subclass of E; this investigation is based on a Galois connection between all such structures and the lattice of all full ...

In this article Hugh Mehan calls for a new approach to the study of schooling. He notes that the research methods that dominated the study of school effects in the last two decades—large-scale surveys and field observation—have failed to examine the processes by which school participants create school structures.

The Structure of Ill-Structured Problems
Artificial Intelligence, 1973The boundary between well structured and ill structured ~roblems is vague, fluid and not susceptible to formalization. Any problem solving process w'iii appear ill structured if the problem solver is a serial machine that has access to a ~w:-y iarge long-term memory of potentially relevant information, and]or access to a very large exterlm!

Structuralism Without Structures
Philosophia Mathematica, 1996Abstract Recent technical developments in the logic of nominalism make it possible to improve and extend significantly the approach to mathematics developed in Mathematics without Numbers. After reviewing the intuitive ideas behind structuralism in general, the modal-structuralist approach as potentially class-free is contrasted broadly ...

A ∞ -Structures and C ∞ -Structures
2013In this chapter we review the notions of A-infinity algebras and A-infinity categories and discuss briefly their appearance in symplectic topology. We then state the result that homotopy theory of commutative DGAs is equivalent to the homotopy theory of commutative A-infinity algebras, the so-called C-infinity algebras.
