A Java program for non-parametric statistic comparison of community structure [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Ecology and Software, 2011
The Java algorithm to statistically compare structure difference of two communities was presented in this study. Euclidean distance, Manhattan distance, Pearson correlation, Point correlation, quadratic correlation and Jaccard coefficient were included ...

Measurement and comparison of soil structures.

open access: yesApplied Mathematical Modelling, 1981
Abstract A model is established to describe the structures of tilled soils using Markov chain theory. The effectiveness of the model in describing soil structures, and its accuracy when the model parameters are determined from limited field data is investigated by a consideration of variances of the transition probabilities and Markov chain state ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A Java algorithm for non-parametric statistic comparison of network structure [PDF]

open access: yesNetwork Biology, 2011
A Java algorithm to statistically compare between-network structure difference was developed. In this algorithm, Euclidean distance, Manhattan distance, Chebyshov distance, and Pearson correlation were available to measure between-network difference. The

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Synthesis and crystal structure of (NH4)[Ni3(HAsO4)(AsO4)(OH)2]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications
The title compound, ammonium trinickel(II) hydrogen arsenate arsenate dihydroxide, was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Its crystal structure is isotypic with that of K[Cu3(HAsO4)(AsO4)(OH)2] and is characterized by pseudo-hexagonal (001) 2 ...
