Structure and structure formation of viroids
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1979Abstract The structure of viroids and the mechanism of structure formation were investigated by different methods. Results from gel analysis, partial degradation pattern, electron microscopy, dye binding, hydrodynamic studies, and temperature-jump kinetics were interpreted in a common structural and mechanistic scheme.

Structural theory and structural formations
Mathematical Social Sciences, 1983Abstract This paper introduces a group of articles on structural theory in economics and outlines characteristic methods for structural analysis. A formal theory of ‘structural formations’ is presented and practical automata-theoretic methods for complexity measurement are demonstrated.

Structural view on autophagosome formation
FEBS Letters, 2023Autophagy is a conserved intracellular degradation system in eukaryotes, involving the sequestration of degradation targets into autophagosomes, which are subsequently delivered to lysosomes (or vacuoles in yeasts and plants) for degradation. In budding yeast, starvation‐induced autophagosome formation relies on approximately 20 core Atg proteins ...

Structure formation in nanocomposite hydrogels
Soft Matter, 2017We use molecular dynamics simulations to study structure formation in physically associating nanocomposite hydrogels. Nanofillers were modeled as rigid bodies of disk-like shapes and physical crosslinks were simulated by introducing a short-range attraction between the nanofillers and polymer chain ends.

Cooling in Primordial Structure Formation
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008Cooling is the main process leading to the condensation of gas in the dark matter potential wells. In a metal free environment, the main available coolants are H, He, H2 and HD molecules; once the gas is enriched with metals, their contribution becomes dominant.

Foams, being colloidal systems, can be prepared either by dispersion or by condensation, which is also known as agglomeration. In the dispersion methods, the future disperse (or discontinuous) phase is initially available as a large volume of gas, and this is then comminuted and mixed with the dispersion medium (often designated as the continuous phase)

In most embryology papers nothing is said about the beginning of secretion of peritrophic membranes. Aubertot (1934) found these membranes already in immobile embryos in the brood pouch of water fleas, Daphnia pulex.

Structural Aspects of Amyloid Formation
2013Amyloid fibrils are highly organized and generally insoluble protein aggregates rich in β secondary structure that can be formed by a wide range of sequences. They have been the object of intense scrutiny because their formation has been associated with a number of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, and ...
