Measurement of Rock Joint Surfaces by Using Smartphone Structure from Motion (SfM) Photogrammetry [PDF]
The measurement of rock joint surfaces is essential for the estimation of the shear strength of the rock discontinuities in rock engineering. Commonly used techniques for the acquisition of the morphology of the surfaces, such as profilometers and laser ...

Structure-From-Motion in 3D Space Using 2D Lidars [PDF]
This paper presents a novel structure-from-motion methodology using 2D lidars (Light Detection And Ranging). In 3D space, 2D lidars do not provide sufficient information for pose estimation.

Workshop on 3D mapping of habitats and biological communities with underwater photogrammetry [PDF]
For the past decades, photogrammetry has been increasingly used for monitoring spatial arrangement or temporal dynamics of submerged man-made structures and natural systems.

Using 3D models to quantify aboveground biomass in the cushion-forming species Plantago rigida in an Andean páramo peatland [PDF]
Peatlands dominated by cushion-forming species have been recognised for their high rates of soil carbon storage, along with their crucial importance in local pastoral systems, and in water supply and regulation, in the tropical and subtropical Andes ...

Structure from motion: A tolerance analysis [PDF]
We present a tolerance analysis that is applicable to a large group of stimuli used in structure-from-motion tasks. Human performance in structure-from-motion tasks reflects the fact that the visual system deals with projections of a 3-D world on the retina. A tolerance analysis reveals the relationship between the projections and the 3-D world.

Critical motions in euclidean structure from motion [PDF]
We investigate the motions that lead to ambiguous Euclidean scene reconstructions under several common calibration constraints, giving a complete description of such critical motions for: (i) internally calibrated orthographic and perspective cameras; (ii) in two images, for cameras with unknown focal lengths, either different or equal.

Semantic Structure from Motion for Railroad Bridges Using Deep Learning
Current maintenance practices consume significant time, cost, and manpower. Thus, a new technique for maintenance is required. Construction information technologies, including building information modeling (BIM), have recently been applied to the field ...

Street View Motion-from-Structure-from-Motion [PDF]
We describe a structure-from-motion framework that handles "generalized" cameras, such as moving rolling-shutter cameras, and works at an unprecedented scale-billions of images covering millions of linear kilometers of roads-by exploiting a good relative pose prior along vehicle paths.

Learning Structure-from-Motion from Motion [PDF]
This work is based on a questioning of the quality metrics used by deep neural networks performing depth prediction from a single image, and then of the usability of recently published works on unsupervised learning of depth from videos. To overcome their limitations, we propose to learn in the same unsupervised manner a depth map inference system from
