Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

On Structural Optimization

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1983
This paper presents a survey of the field of optimal structural design, with the main emphasis laid on fundamental aspects. The basic concepts for structural optimization problems are outlined, and we discuss the mathematical formulation and the characteristic properties and features of such problems for both discrete and continuum structures.

Optimization of structured programs

Software: Practice and Experience, 1974
AbstractThe class of programs which do not contain goto statements has a structure which lends itself to optimization by an optimizer that is fast, efficient and relatively easy to program. The design of such an optimizer is described, along with some of the results obtained using this optimizer—one such result being that very little code optimization ...

Optimal motion and structure estimation

Proceedings CVPR '89: IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 1993
The problem of estimating motion and structure of a rigid scene from two perspective monocular views is studied. The optimization approach presented is motivated by the following observations of linear algorithms: (1) for certain types of motion, even pixel-level perturbations (such as digitization noise) may override the information characterized by ...

Optimizing the organization's structure

Computer, 1997
Manager, employee, or consultant-we all have to contend with and understand the structure of a business organization to get our jobs done. Ideally, such structure reinforces behavior that support business objectives. In reality, we all know of instances in which structure either failed to produce the desired employee performance or in fact deterred ...
