Structure Theory of Complemented Banach Algebras

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1962
If A is an H*-algebra, then the orthogonal complement of a closed right (left) ideal I is a closed right (left) ideal P. Saworotnow (7) considered Banach algebras which are Hilbert spaces and in which the closed right ideals satisfy the complementation property of an H*-algebra.

Algebraic structures in quantum theory

2023
The thesis is devoted to the analysis of various algebraic structures appearing in quantum theory and their applications to concrete physical problems. Analysis of symmetries is one of the most universal and powerful tools for studying physical systems.

The Structure Theory of Transition Algebras

1989
In the introduction we outlined the idea of a “discrete deterministic system.” Here we present the fundamentals of a mathematical theory of such structures. Clearly these fundamentals will stay with us; we are to live with them, and so they had better be elegantly (i.e., simply) formulated!

The role of abstract algebra in structured estimation theory

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1992
A necessary and sufficient condition for a complete sufficient and explicit statistic for the covariance estimation problem is that the linear subspaces associated with covariance and the inverse covariance are identical and a Jordan algebra of symmetric linear mappings (see theorem 1).

Algebraic Structure Theory of Tail-Biting Trellises

2007
It is well known that there is an intimate connection between algebraic descriptions of linear block codes in the form of generator or parity-check matrices, and combinatorial descriptions in the form of trellises. A conventional trellis for a linear code C is a directed labelled layered graph with unique start and final nodes, and all paths from the ...
