Wilsonian renormalisation of CFT correlation functions: field theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We examine the precise connection between the exact renormalisation group with local couplings and the renormalisation of correlation functions of composite operators in scale-invariant theories.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Instanton density operator in lattice QCD from higher category theory

open access: yesSciPost Physics
A natural definition for instanton density operator in lattice QCD has long been desired. We show this problem is, and has to be, solved by higher category theory.

New modular invariants in N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 Super-Yang-Mills theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We study modular invariants arising in the four-point functions of the stress tensor multiplet operators of the N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 SU(N) super-Yang-Mills theory, in the limit where N is taken to be large while the complexified Yang-Mills coupling τ ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Improved strategies for fermionic quantum simulation with global interactions

open access: yesnpj Quantum Information
We present efficient quantum circuits for fermionic excitation operators tailored for ion trap quantum computers exhibiting the Mølmer-Sørensen (MS) gate. Such operators commonly arise in the study of static and dynamic properties in electronic structure

Integrated Topology Optimization of Structure/Vibration Control for Piezoelectric Cylindrical Shell Based on the Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2015
A hybrid optimization strategy for integrated topological optimization design of piezoelectric cylindrical flat shell structure is proposed. The method combines the genetic algorithm (GA) and linear-quadratic-regulator (LQR) theory to optimize the ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Boundedly solvable extensions of delay differential operators

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
We describe all boundedly solvable extensions of minimal operators generated by first-order linear delay differential operators in Hilbert spaces of vector-functions on finite intervals. Also, we study the structure of spectrum of these extensions.
