Student Newspapers Show Opinion Article Political Bias
Newspaper Research Journal, 2015This analysis of political reporting and opinion pieces in student newspapers shows a significant bias against Republicans in opinion articles but greater objectivity in the news section. A pro-Democratic bias is apparent in sentences attributed as quotes in the opinion section.

Trend is toward Supervision of Student Newspapers
Journalism Quarterly, 1952Based on a survey of 141 colleges and universities, including 34 with accredited schools of journalism, this study reveals some interesting developments. Mr. Bert is head of the journalism department and director of publicity at Superior (Wis.) State College. He did the survey as part of his master's thesis at Iowa.

Learning through Publishing: Why We Must Sponsor Student Newspapers
The English Journal, 1995Bailer, a newspaper sponsor, explores the tension between letting students learn from mistakes and catching those mistakes before they wind up in print. t 7:30 in the morning, the first bell of the day (which will begin Newspaper Publication class) will ring promptly, but I won't be calling names to take attendance.
