Study Design for Sequencing Studies
2016Once a biochemical method has been devised to sample RNA or DNA of interest, sequencing can be used to identify the sampled molecules with high fidelity and low bias. High-throughput sequencing has therefore become the primary data acquisition method for many genomics studies and is being used more and more to address molecular biology questions.

A study of library “use studies”
Information Storage and Retrieval, 1974Abstract A brief history of library use studies is followed by an analysis of the “Use Studies” indexed in Library Literature from 1960 to 1973. In addition to comparisons of the use studies conducted by public, college, school and special libraries, statistical comparisons are made of the use studies conducted by the United States and those ...

Women's Studies: Women Studying or Studying Women?
Feminist Review, 1983Mary Evans' article on women's studies (Evans, 1982) makes a spirited attempt to defend the practitioners of women's studies within academic institutions, principally those of the tertiary sector, from the accusations that they and their teaching is not feminist, since it is an altemative to political feminist practice, and therefore diminishes the ...

The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is a group of closely linked loci present in remarkably similar form in all mammals and perhaps in all vertebrates. It plays a still imperfectly understood but clearly important role in immune phenomena. Because of the unusual concentration of similar genes, I referred to it in 1968 as a supergene (1). Bodmer (

2022The central theme of Rubens’s paintings is the human figure, often represented nude or partially clothed and involved in dramatic action. As a history painter, Rubens’s acclaimed skill in rendering the human body—whether male or female, lean or fleshy, mature in years or young, animated or lifeless, vigorous or diseased, heroic or cowering, sensuous or

Further studies of study habits and study skills
31st Annual Frontiers in Education Conference. Impact on Engineering and Science Education. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37193), 2002In previous research, the Estes-Richards Inventory of Study Habits (ERISH) has proven to be a reliable tool, with a stable factor structure when administered to large classes of engineering students. However, in the previous study (FIE 99), there was minimal variability in grades in this Introduction to Engineering class, and thus the ERISH results ...

This study will be limited to a general survey of independent study on a national level, but study should be done on the state level relative to this very important facet of individualized instruction as far as personal educative precepts prevail, and as far as the desires of the individual is concerned.

Gender Studies, Transgender Studies, Queer Studies
2012What is known today as Gender Studies emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s in the wake of the second wave of the Women’s Movement. At its core were an analysis of hierarchical gender structures that oppressed women and a critique of androcentrism, of a male-dominated world-view masquerading as a universal standpoint. At first, the focus was on the study
