Bioactive peptides identified from enzymatic hydrolysates of sturgeon skin.
The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2021BACKGROUND Recent studies demonstrate that fish byproduct can be used as sources of bioactive peptides for functional foods. Sturgeon skin contains abundant proteins while it has commonly been discarded during sturgeon processing.

The development of the sturgeon heart
Anatomy and Embryology, 2004This paper presents a sequential analysis of the development of the sturgeon (Acipenser naccarii) heart from the end of gastrulation to the early juvenile stages. At late neurulation, the heart appears as a straight, short tube located over the endoderm that forms the wall of the yolk sac, in front of the developing head. The heart axis is aligned with

Critical Swimming Speed and Behavior of Juvenile Shovelnose Sturgeon and Pallid Sturgeon
Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 2003Abstract The swimming performance of hatchery-reared, juvenile shovelnose sturgeon Scaphirhynchus platorynchus and pallid sturgeon S. albus was studied in a laboratory swim tunnel at 20°C and 10°C. The mean 30-min critical swimming speed was not significantly different between species at either temperature (36.9 cm/s for shovelnose sturgeon and 35.9 cm/

Importance of habitat and migration to sturgeons with emphasis on lake sturgeon
Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 1996Sturgeons utilize a variety of habitat types throughout their life: rivers for spawning; rivers, lakes, estuaries, or the sea for feeding and wintering adults; and estuarine areas for feeding young. Distances covered by some sturgeons during spawning migrations show a positive relationship to average adult size. The lake sturgeon, Acipenser fulvescens,
