Abstract Internal tides are generated in the stratified ocean interior by the interaction of barotropic tidal currents with rough bathymetry. Low‐vertical‐mode internal tides can transport energy far from their generation site, but it remains unclear how and where this energy is eventually dissipated at small scales.

ROSSMIX 2.0: A Simplified Meso‐Scale Eddy Closure Applied to a Realistic Ocean Model
Abstract A new closure, ROSSMIX 2.0, for the effect of meso‐scale eddies in non‐eddy‐resolving ocean models is presented and evaluated. It combines aspects of several previous closures in a simplified approach: local linear stability analysis is used to predict the vertical and lateral shape of eddy correlations, while a wave energy equation co ...

Convolution algebras arising from Sturm-Liouville transforms and applications
A regular Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem gives rise to a related linear integral transform. Churchill has shown how such an integral transform yields, under certain circumstances, a generalized convolution operation.

The conservative Camassa–Holm flow with step‐like irregular initial data
Abstract We extend the inverse spectral transform for the conservative Camassa–Holm flow on the line to a class of initial data that requires strong decay at one endpoint but only mild boundedness‐type conditions at the other endpoint. The latter condition appears to be close to optimal in a certain sense for the well‐posedness of the conservative ...

On a fractional hybrid version of the Sturm–Liouville equation
It is well known that the Sturm–Liouville equation has many applications in different areas of science. Thus, it is important to review different versions of the well-known equation.

Trace regularization problem for a fourth‐order differential operator on separable Banach space
In this study, we employ new results on the semi‐inner product, the adjoint operator, and the Schatten class of operators on a separable Banach space, which allow us to investigate a differential operator with unbounded operator‐valued coefficients. Specifically, we derive an asymptotic formula for the second regularized trace based on the asymptotic ...

The Sturm-Liouville problem with various types of two-point boundary conditions is considered in this paper. In the first part of the paper, we investigate the Sturm-Liouville problem in three cases of nonlocal two-point boundary conditions.

A New Approach for Linear Eigenvalue Problems and Nonlinear Euler Buckling Problem
We propose a numerical Taylor's Decomposition method to compute approximate eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for regular Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem and nonlinear Euler buckling problem very accurately for relatively large step sizes.

Fractional Sturm-Liouville operators on compact star graphs
In this article, we examine two problems: a fractional Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem on a compact star graph and a fractional Sturm-Liouville transmission problem on a compact metric graph, where the orders αi{\alpha }_{i} of the fractional ...
