Effect of Field Line Torsion on the Polarization of ULF Waves

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract In this paper we suggest a simple modification of the dipole magnetic field which introduces field‐aligned currents and torsion to the field lines. The resulting field lines are not contained in the meridional planes and have resemblance to the geomagnetic field lines in the dawn and dusk flanks of the magnetosphere. We analyze polarization of

On ( p , q ) $(p,q)$ -classical orthogonal polynomials and their characterization theorems

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2017
In this paper, we introduce a general ( p , q ) $(p, q)$ -Sturm-Liouville difference equation whose solutions are ( p , q ) $(p, q)$ -analogues of classical orthogonal polynomials leading to Jacobi, Laguerre, and Hermite polynomials as ( p , q ) → ( 1 ...

Identification of the coefficients of equation for a vibrating rod in acoustic diagnostics

open access: yesВестник КазНУ. Серия математика, механика, информатика, 2020
The work is devoted to the study solving some inverse problem of identifying the coefficients of Sturm-Liouville operator. Inverse problems in vibration are concerned with constructing a vibrating system of a particular type, e.g., a string, a rod, that

Scattering theory of impulsive Sturm-Liouville equations

open access: yesFilomat, 2017
In this paper, we investigate scattering theory of the impulsive Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem (ISBVP). In particular, we find the Jost solution and the scattering function of this problem. We also study the properties of the Jost function and the scattering function of this ISBVP.

Comparison Criteria for Three-Interval Sturm-Liouville Equations

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science, 2022
This study devoted to the investigation of comparison properties for periodic Sturm-Liouville problems, defined on three disjoint intervals together with additional transfer conditions across the common endpoint of these intervals, so-called transmission conditions.

Maximally dissipative and self‐adjoint extensions of K$K$‐invariant operators

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 58, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We introduce the notion of K$K$‐invariant operators, S$S$, in a Hilbert space, with respect to a bounded and boundedly invertible operator K$K$ defined via K∗SK=S$K^*SK=S$. Conditions such that self‐adjoint and maximally dissipative extensions of K$K$‐invariant symmetric operators are also K$K$‐invariant are investigated.

The Sturm-Liouville Hierarchy of Evolution Equations

open access: yesAdvanced Nonlinear Studies, 2011
Abstract We introduce a hierarchy of evolution equations based on the Sturm-Liouville equation −(pφ′)′ + qφ = λyφ. Our hierarchy includes the Korteweg-de Vries (K-dV) and the Camassa-Holm (CH) hierarchy. We determine a class of solutions of the hierarchy which are of algebro-geometric type.

The Linearized Korteweg–de Vries Equation on the Line With Metric Graph Defects

open access: yesStudies in Applied Mathematics, Volume 156, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT We study the small‐amplitude linearization of the Korteweg–de Vries equation on the line with a local defect scattering waves represented by a metric graph domain adjoined at one point. For a representative collection of examples, we derive explicit solution formulas expressed as contour integrals and obtain existence and unicity results for ...

Multiple front and pulse solutions in spatially periodic systems

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract In this paper, we develop a comprehensive mathematical toolbox for the construction and spectral stability analysis of stationary multiple front and pulse solutions to general semilinear evolution problems on the real line with spatially periodic coefficients.

Nonradial solutions for the critical quasi‐linear Hénon equation involving p$p$‐Laplacian in RN$\mathbb {R}^N$

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 132, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract In this paper, we investigate the following D1,p$D^{1,p}$‐critical quasi‐linear Hénon equation involving p$p$‐Laplacian −Δpu=|x|αupα∗−1,x∈RN,$$\begin{equation*} -\Delta _p u=|x|^{\alpha }u^{p_\alpha ^*-1}, \qquad x\in \mathbb {R}^N, \end{equation*}$$where N⩾2$N\geqslant 2$, 1
