Anisotropic Picone identities and anisotropic Hardy inequalities [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
In this paper, we derive an anisotropic Picone identity for the anisotropic Laplacian, which contains some known Picone identities. As applications, a Sturmian comparison principle to the anisotropic elliptic equation and an anisotropic Hardy type ...

A generalized nonlinear Picone identity for the p-biharmonic operator and its applications

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2019
A generalized nonlinear Picone identity for the p-biharmonic operator is established in this paper. As applications, a Sturmian comparison principle to the p-biharmonic equation with singular term, a Liouville’s theorem to the p-biharmonic system, and a ...

Rayleigh principle for time scale symplectic systems and applications

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2011
In this paper we establish the Rayleigh principle, i.e., the variational characterization of the eigenvalues, for a general eigenvalue problem consisting of a time scale symplectic system and the Dirichlet boundary conditions.

Solvability of Nth Order Linear Boundary Value Problems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
This paper presents a method that provides necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions of nth order linear boundary value problems. The method is based on the recursive application of a linear integral operator to some functions and the comparison of the result with these same functions.

Regularity and Chaos in the Hydrogen Atom Highly Excited with a Strong Magnetic Field

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
The effects of the relativistic corrections on the energy spectra are analyzed. Effective simulations based on manipulations of operators in the Sturmian basis are developed. Discrete and continuous energy spectra of a hydrogen atom with realistic nucleus mass in a strong magnetic field are computed.

Symplectic difference systems: oscillation theory and hyperbolic Prüfer transformation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, Volume 2004, Issue 4, Page 285-294, 2004., 2004
We present basic methods of oscillation theory of symplectic difference systems (SDSs). A particular attention is devoted to the variational principle and to the transformation method. Hyperbolic Prüfer transformation for SDSs is established.

Sturmian theorems for systems of differential equations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 177-184, 1980., 1979
Two Sturmian theorems are established for second order linear nonhomogeneous systems of two differential equations with the use of a maximum principle. The results also hold for homogeneous systems. For illustration, an example is given.

Generalized Picone's identity and its applications

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
In this article we give a generalized version of Picone's identity in a nonlinear setting for the p-Laplace operator. As applications we give a Sturmian Comparison principle and a Liouville type theorem.
