Reproduction of Artibeus lituratus and Sturnira lilium (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae) in a Semideciduous Seasonal Forest fragment in southern Brazil

open access: yesActa Biológica Paranaense, 2022
Here we evaluate the reproduction and changes in abundance among different reproductive stages for Artibeus lituratus (Olfers, 1818) and Sturnira lilium (E. Geoffroy, 1810) in a Semideciduous Seasonal Forest fragment at southern Brazil.

Seasonal variation in the number of captures of Artibeus lituratus (Olfers, 1818) and Sturnira lilium (E. Geoffroy, 1810) (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae) in the upper strata of an Atlantic Forest remnant in southern Brazil

open access: yesBiotemas, 2014
This study aimed to analyze the occurrence of seasonal variations in the number of captures of Artibeus lituratus and Sturnira lilium in the upper strata of an Atlantic Forest remnant in southern Brazil. It was conducted in the town of Pedras Grandes, in

Ectoparasitic flies (Diptera: Streblidae) on bats (Mammalia: Chiroptera) from a Private Natural Heritage Reserve in southeastern Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesPapéis Avulsos de Zoologia, 2021
Due to the small number of records of Streblidae on bats, despite extensive study on these mammals in the state of Rio de Janeiro, a survey was carried out in an area of the Atlantic Forest.

A global systematic review of frugivorous animal tracking studies and the estimation of seed dispersal distances

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2023., 2023
We demonstrate that an increase in body mass significantly increases the estimated seed dispersal mean and maximum distances, as does species flight ability. Our results also suggest that protected areas have a positive effect on mean seed dispersal distances when compared to unprotected areas. We anticipate that this review will act as a reference for

Global review and guidelines to avoid opportunistic predation of birds and bats in mist nets

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
Mist nets are one of the most widely used techniques in the study of birds and bats worldwide. However, a number of risks are involved, including opportunistic predation. Using guidelines for the correct use of mist nets can not only decrease predation rates but also the risk of injury to birds and bats.

Elevation drives taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic β‐diversity of phyllostomid bats in the Amazon biome

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 50, Issue 1, Page 70-85, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Aim We evaluated the relative importance of geographical and environment variables for taxonomic, phylogenetic and functional β‐diversity of phyllostomid bats along the entire Amazon biome and specifically in the lowlands. Location Amazon biome. Taxon Chiroptera.
