Geographic Variation in the Diet of Red Knot (Calidris canutus) Chicks Reflects Local Prey Communities

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To describe and compare the diets of an Arctic‐breeding shorebird, the Red Knot (Calidris canutus), across three geographically distinct breeding sites. We aimed to document the dietary patterns and identify key prey groups that characterise each population's foraging ecology.

THE H3/H4 HISTONE GENE CLUSTER OF LAND SNAILS (GASTROPODA: STYLOMMATOPHORA): TS/TV RATIO, GC3 DRIVE AND SIGNALS IN STYLOMMATOPHORAN PHYLOGENY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Histone gene primers were developed for land snails (Stylommatophora). The partial H3/H4 histone gene cluster was cloned and sequenced for 18 species. Transcription of the H3 and H4 genes was divergent (each gene is transcribed in the opposite direction)

Environmental Gradients and Ecological Processes Are Main Drivers of Eukaryotic Diversity in the Eastern Red Sea

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 1, January–February 2026.
Across 266 water column samples, COI eDNA metabarcoding detected 4298 eukaryotic MOTUs spanning 40 phyla in the Eastern Red Sea. Community composition varied strongly across depth and regions, revealing hidden biodiversity patterns and providing a baseline for conservation‐oriented monitoring in a future‐ocean analogue.
