A tailored multi-functional catalyst for ultra-efficient styrene production under a cyclic redox scheme

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Styrene is an important commodity chemical that is highly energy and CO2 intensive to produce. We report a redox oxidative dehydrogenation (redox-ODH) strategy to efficiently produce styrene.

Atropisomerism in Styrene: Synthesis, Stability, and Applications

open access: yesSynOpen, 2021
Atropisomeric styrenes are a class of optically active compounds, the chirality of which results from restricted rotation of the C(vinyl)–C(aryl) single bond.

Non-aldehyde resins based on resorcinol and natural alkylresorcinols modified with styrene

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2023
The use of natural alkylresorcinols produced in Estonia (5-methylresorcinol, HONEYOL80 fraction) instead of the expensive resorcinol reduces the cost of the synthesized resins while maintaining their high technological characteristics.

Chain-Selective and Regioselective Ethylene and Styrene Dimerization Reactions Catalyzed by a Well-Defined Cationic Ruthenium-Hydride Complex: New Insights on the Styrene Dimerization Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The cationic ruthenium hydride complex [(η6-C6H6)(PCy3)(CO)RuH]+BF4− was found to be a highly regioselective catalyst for the ethylene dimerization reaction to give 2-butene products (TOF = 1910 h−1, \u3e95% selectivity for 2-butenes).

Biofiltration of a styrene/acetone vapor mixture in two reactor types under conditions of styrene overloading

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2014
This aim of study was to compare the performance of a biofilter (BF) and trickle bed reactor (TBR) under increased styrene loading with a constant acetone load, 2 gc/m3/h.

Modeling Styrene−Styrene Interactions

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2005
This study is the first step in the systematic investigation of substituted (carboxyl) polystyrene nanoparticles. Understanding the fundamental interactions between the p-carboxyl styrene monomers, where an ethyl group is used instead of a vinyl group (referenced, for convenience, as "p-carboxyl styrene"), provides the basic information needed to ...

Identification of a Novel Self-Sufficient Styrene Monooxygenase from Rhodococcus opacus 1CP. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Sequence analysis of a 9-kb genomic fragment of the actinobacterium Rhodococcus opacus 1CP led to identification of an open reading frame encoding a novel fusion protein, StyA2B, with a putative function in styrene metabolism via styrene oxide and ...

Novel ETFE based radiation grafted poly(styrene sulfonic acid-co-methacrylonitrile) proton conducting membranes with increased stability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Styrene radiation grafted ETFE based proton conducting membranes are subject to degradation under fuel cell operating conditions and show a poor stability. Lifetimes exceeding 250 h can only be achieved with crosslinked membranes.
