On the Sub and Supersolution Method for Nonlinear Elliptic Equations with a Convective Term, in Orlicz Spaces

open access: yesMathematics
In this note we provide an overview of some existence (with sign information) and regularity results for differential equations, in which the method of sub and supersolutions plays an important role.

Positive solutions for concave-convex type problems for the one-dimensional $\phi$-Laplacian

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
Let $\Omega=(a,b)\subset\mathbb{R}$, $0\leq m,n\in L^{1}(\Omega)$, $\lambda,\mu>0$ be real parameters, and $\phi: \mathbb{R}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ be an odd increasing homeomorphism.

Nonlinear elliptic equations with self-adjoint integro-differential operators and measure data under sign condition on the nonlinearity

open access: yesAdvanced Nonlinear Studies
We study the existence problem for semilinear equations (E): −Au = f(⋅, u) + μ, with Borel measure μ and operator A that generates a symmetric Markov semigroup.

Strictly positive solutions for one-dimensional nonlinear elliptic problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
We study the existence and nonexistence of strictly positive solutions for the elliptic problems $Lu=m(x) u^p$ in a bounded open interval, with zero boundary conditions, where $L$ is a strongly uniformly elliptic differential operator, $p\in(0,1 ...

Sub and supersolutions, invariant cones and multiplicity results for p-Laplace equations

open access: yes, 2012
For a class of quasilinear elliptic equations involving the p-Laplace operator, we develop an abstract critical point theory in the presence of sub-supersolutions. Our approach is based upon the proof of the invariance under the gradient flow of enlarged cones in the $W^{1,p}_0$ topology. With this, we prove abstract existence and multiplicity theorems

Existence of large solutions for a semilinear elliptic problem via explosive sub- supersolutions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
We consider the boundary blow-up nonlinear elliptic problems $Delta upmlambda | abla u|^q=k(x)g(u)$ in a bounded domain with boundary condition $u|_{partial Omega}=+infty$, where $qin [0, 2]$ and $lambdageq0$. Under suitable growth assumptions on $k$

Effects of Predation-Induced Emigration on a Landscape Ecological Model

open access: yesAxioms
Predators impact prey populations directly through consumption and indirectly via trait-mediated effects like predator-induced emigration (PIE), where prey alter movement due to predation risk.

The sub-supersolution method for the FitzHugh-Nagumo type reaction-diffusion system with heterogeneity

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems, 2018
The main result of the paper concerns the existence of a solution \((u,v)\), defined on the half-line \(\mathbb{R}^+\), to the system \[ \begin{split} &-du''=\mu(x)f(u)-v, \\ &-v''+\gamma v=u \end{split} \] with boundary conditions that express the connection between two equilibria \[ (u,v)(0)=(0,0),\quad (u,v)(+\infty)=(a_\gamma,a_\gamma/\gamma ...
