Spatially-Coupled MacKay-Neal Codes and Hsu-Anastasopoulos Codes

open access: yes, 2011
Kudekar et al. recently proved that for transmission over the binary erasure channel (BEC), spatial coupling of LDPC codes increases the BP threshold of the coupled ensemble to the MAP threshold of the underlying LDPC codes.

Low‐Symmetry Weyl Semimetals: A Path to Ideal Topological States

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a theoretical framework for realizing ideal Weyl semimetals, where Weyl nodes are well‐isolated at the Fermi level. The approach is exemplified in the low‐symmetry material Cu2SnSe3, which exhibits tunable topological phases, current‐induced orbital magnetization, and a strong circular photogalvanic effect, making it a promising ...

Embedded Coding of Astronomical Images

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2006
Recursive partitioning of significant wavelet sub-bands (RPSWS) is an embedded rate scalable wavelet-based image coding algorithm. The RPSWS coder produces a fully embedded bit stream and encodes the image to exactly the desired bit rate (precise rate ...

Nonlinear quantisation of spectral shape in sub-band coding

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1989
In the letter we propose nonlinear quantisation of the spectral shape in sub-band coding. This computationally simple method is shown to yield substantial improvement in speech quality. The performance improvement obtained is computed for 8-band and 16-band coding schemes operating at 16 kbit/s.

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

A Complexity Analysis of IIR Filters with an Approximately Linear Phase [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2019
In this paper, a comprehensive analysis of hardware complexity of different configurations for the realization of approximately linear phase filters is presented. Hardware complexity for the realization of the parallel all-pass structure (PA) is compared

Wavelength‐Dependent Differential Amplification of Raman Scattering by Chiral Gold Nanorods for Multiplexed Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The SERS spectra of reporter molecules adsorbed on chiral gold nanorods depends on the handedness of circularly polarized light (CPL‐SERS). The bisignate plasmonic CD spectra of chiral nanorods provides wavelength‐dependent CPL‐SERS. Selective discrimination of chiral nanorod handedness and different Raman reporters allow highly sensitive codification ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Performance Analysis of PCFICH and PDCCH LTE Control Channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Control channels play a key role in the evaluation of mobile system performance. The purpose of our paper is to evaluate the performance of the control channels implementation in the Long Term Evolution (LTE) system.

Synergistic Osteogenesis After Co‐Administration of cmRNAs Encoding BMP‐2 and BMP‐7 Utilizing a Transcript‐Activated Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the dual delivery of BMP‐2/‐7 coding cmRNAs for bone healing is demonstrated as feasible, safe, and highly osteogenic. Compared to single BMP‐2 or BMP‐7 cmRNAs, the combination enhances the production of both mineral and organic components of the extracellular matrix when delivered using a collagen‐HA scaffold, supporting ...
