Charge‐Induced Morphing Gels for Bioinspired Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel electroactive actuation mechanism that enables the gel material to generate substantial and reversible shape‐changing while preserving topological and isochoric (volumetric) equivalence. The resultant morphing behaviors can mimic the movements of muscle‐driven organelles in nature, including cilia‐like beating and ...

Atmospheric dispersion and the implications for phase calibration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The success of any ALMA phase-calibration strategy, which incorporates phase transfer, depends on a good understanding of how the atmospheric path delay changes with frequency (e.g. Holdaway & Pardo 2001).

Reducing Open‐Circuit Voltage Losses in Wide‐Bandgap FAPbBr3 Perovskite Solar Cells for Continuous Unassisted Light‐Driven Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The combination of formamidinium thiocyanate and 1,3‐propane diammonium iodide for bulk and top‐surface passivation, and a ternary fullerene blend to improve energy band alignment, suppresses energy losses in wide‐bandgap FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells.

Unveiling Aggregation‐Induced Singlet Fission in Push–Pull Diketopyrrolopyrrole Water Dispersed Nanoaggregates and Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aggregates of diketopyrrolopyrrole dipolar and quadrupolar systems exhibit panchromatic absorption spectra extending in the entire visible range. Upon aggregation in water and in the solid state, their fluorescence is almost completely quenched and their singlet excited state lifetime is significantly shortened.

Reconnaissance sub-bottom profiling survey at Lac Macamic, Quebec

open access: yes, 2016
As part of a reconnaissance sub-bottom acoustic profiling (SAP) survey, eleven SAP were collected from Lac Macamic, Quebec, on July 21, 2014. Good penetration of the sub-bottom was obtained in both of the profiled bays. Three facies can be identified within the SAP returns that represent lacustrine, glaciolacustrine and mass movement deposits.

A Fast Causal Profiler for Task Parallel Programs

open access: yes, 2017
This paper proposes TASKPROF, a profiler that identifies parallelism bottlenecks in task parallel programs. It leverages the structure of a task parallel execution to perform fine-grained attribution of work to various parts of the program.

Laser‐Based Sculpturing of Embedded Ultrathin Metal‐Oxide Nanopores for Enhanced Biomolecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

Reconnaissance sub-bottom acoustic profiling survey at Sesekinika Lake, Ontario

open access: yes, 2017
As part of a reconnaissance sub-bottom acoustic profiling (SAP) survey, 34 profiles were collected at Sesekinika Lake, Ontario, on August 23, 2015. The quality of the returns ranges from good to there being no penetration locally. Three depositional facies are present within the SAP returns that represent lacustrine, glaciolacustrine and subaqueous ...

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.

Reconnaissance sub-bottom profiling survey at Lac Caste, Quebec

open access: yes, 2016
As part of a reconnaissance sub-bottom acoustic profiling (SAP) survey, eleven SAP were collected from Lac Caste, Quebec, on July 10, 2014. The returns with the best penetration of the sub-bottom were collected in the small bay in the southern area of the lake and along the immediate south and west sides of the main basin.
