An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.

High Resolution Geospatial Evapotranspiration Mapping of Irrigated Field Crops Using Multispectral and Thermal Infrared Imagery with METRIC Energy Balance Model

open access: yesDrones, 2020
Geospatial crop water use mapping is critical for field-scale site-specific irrigation management. Landsat 7/8 satellite imagery with a widely adopted METRIC (Mapping Evapotranspiration at high Resolution with Internalized Calibration) energy balance ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Enhancing Bubble Removal in Geometry‐Optimized Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed lattice electrodes outperform stochastic foams in alkaline water electrolysis despite 20%–25% lower surface area. Straight flow channels generate Venturi‐like bubble entrainment, suppressing gas accumulation that renders foam interiors electrochemically inactive.

Single-pixel infrared imaging thermometry maps human inner canthi temperature

open access: yesNature Communications
Efficiently and accurately mapping the temperature of human inner canthi is crucial for disease diagnostics and monitoring. The specific anatomical location of the inner canthi precludes temperature screening methods that are invasive, require tissue ...

Supervised Sub-Pixel Mapping for Change Detection from Remotely Sensed Images with Different Resolutions

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Due to the relatively low temporal resolutions of high spatial resolution (HR) remotely sensed images, land-cover change detection (LCCD) may have to use multi-temporal images with different resolutions.

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

Sub-Pixel Mapping for Change Detection in Fluvial Environments

open access: yes
Satellite images with a frequent revisit period and a large area of simultaneous coverage are an ideal data source for monitoring many natural features including fluvial environments. Openly available remote sensing data have a spatial resolution that may be too coarse for accurate detection of features of interest such as gravel bars.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Estimating Fractional Shrub Cover Using Simulated EnMAP Data: A Comparison of Three Machine Learning Regression Techniques

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2014
Anthropogenic interventions in natural and semi-natural ecosystems often lead to substantial changes in their functioning and may ultimately threaten ecosystem service provision. It is, therefore, necessary to monitor these changes in order to understand
