During host recognition, the fibers of T7 bacteriophages transition from a capsid bound state to an extended conformation, which requires some level of fiber flexibility. By using high‐speed atomic force microscopy, we show that the fibers have an internal molecular hinge and a torsionally compliant coiled‐coil region.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

To determine what drives the responses of the visual claustrum zone, we extracted physical features and collected participants' subjective ratings of naturalistic videos. Claustrum activity was associated with motion, but also with subjective ratings of arousal, valence, and interest, implying the human claustrum's role beyond sensory processing ...

Fast and Slow Changes Constrained Spatio-temporal Subpixel Mapping [PDF]
Subpixel mapping (SPM) is a technique to tackle the mixed pixel problem and produce land cover and land use (LCLU) maps at a finer spatial resolution than the original coarse data.

Although electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy provides atomic‐scale access to electrified interfaces, quantitative in situ and operando investigations suffer from drift‐induced distortions. This work introduces the Lattice Fourier Analyzer (LFA), which employs substrate‐anchored affine drift correction in reciprocal space to recover precise ...

Crystallographic Analysis of a Nonvolatile HZO Phase Shifter Integrated on a Si3N4 Waveguide
The nonvolatile resonance shift of an in‐plane HZO phase shifter integrated on a Si3N4 ring resonator is demonstrated through optical measurements under lateral bias. Combining 4D‐STEM with DFT simulations reveals phase redistribution and strain‐induced index changes as the microscopic origin of a nonvolatile photonic modulation.

Abstract INTRODUCTION Impaired cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) ‐mediated clearance has been implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but how choroid plexus (ChP) remodeling relates to these processes in vivo remains incompletely understood. METHODS In a large ADNI cohort, we integrated structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), amyloid/tau positron emission

LIMO EEG: A Toolbox for hierarchical LInear MOdeling of ElectroEncephaloGraphic data [PDF]
Magnetic- and electric-evoked brain responses have traditionally been analyzed by comparing the peaks or mean amplitudes of signals from selected channels and averaged across trials.

A new subpixel mapping (SPM) algorithm combining pixel-level and subpixel-level spatial dependences is proposed in this letter. The pixel-level dependence is measured by the spatial attraction model (SAM) with either surrounding or quadrant neighbourhood,

Distribution, Habitat Use and Conservation of the Bornean Ferret Badger
The Bornean ferret badger (Melogale everetti) is an Endangered, range‐restricted carnivore whose ecology and distribution remain poorly known. Using multi‐site camera‐trap surveys across Sabah's western mountain massif combined with habitat suitability and connectivity modelling, we documented 407 detections from 60 stations, including the first ...
