The robust Orlicz risk with an application to the green photovoltaic power generation

open access: yesAsian Journal of Control, Volume 27, Issue 4, Page 1655-1667, July 2025.
Abstract We propose a novel recursive utility for controlling stochastic processes under risk and uncertainty. Our formulation uses a robustified Orlicz risk that can evaluate risk and uncertainty simultaneously. We focus on the control problem of a photovoltaic power generation system that supplies excess electricity for the secondary purpose of ...

Sub-supersolution method for a quasilinear elliptic problem involving the 1-laplacian operator and a gradient term

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 2020
Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded Lipschitz domain of \(\mathbb{R}^N\). This paper is concerned with the existence of nonnegative solutions \(u\), vanishing on the boundary of \(\Omega\), for the nonlinear equation \[ -\mathrm{div}\Big(\frac{D u}{|D u|}\Big) + |D u| = a(x)u + h(x,u),\qquad x\in\Omega.

Fite-Wintner-Leighton-Type Oscillation Criteria for Second-Order Differential Equations with Nonlinear Damping

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
Some new oscillation criteria for a general class of second-order differential equations with nonlinear damping are shown. Except some general structural assumptions on the coefficients and nonlinear terms, we additionally assume only one sufficient ...

The free boundary for semilinear problems with highly oscillating singular terms

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract We investigate general semilinear (obstacle‐like) problems of the form Δu=f(u)$\Delta u = f(u)$, where f(u)$f(u)$ has a singularity/jump at {u=0}$\lbrace u=0\rbrace$ giving rise to a free boundary. Unlike many works on such equations where f$f$ is approximately homogeneous near {u=0}$\lbrace u = 0\rbrace$, we work under assumptions allowing ...

The sub-supersolution method for an evolutionary reaction-diffusion age-dependent problem

open access: yesDifferential and Integral Equations, 2005
In this work, we analyze a nonlinear population-dynamics model with age dependence and spatial diffusion, and where we are assuming the influence of a reaction term. Using a sub-supersolution method we derive existence and uniqueness results. We apply this method to study the existence and uniqueness of a positive solution of a generalized logistic and

Large solutions, metasolutions, and asymptotic behaviour of the regular positive solutions of sublinear parabolic problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2000
In this paper we analyze the existence of regular and large positive solutions for a class of non-linear elliptic boundary value problems of logistic type in the presence of refuges.

The Exterior Problem of Parabolic Hessian Quotient Equations

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we investigate the exterior problem of parabolic Hessian quotient equations. By utilizing Perron’s method, we establish the existence of viscosity solutions that exhibit generalized asymptotic behavior at infinity.

Time‐insensitive nonlocal parabolic Harnack estimates

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 130, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract We establish new Harnack estimates that defy the waiting‐time phenomenon for global solutions to nonlocal parabolic equations. Our technique allows us to consider general nonlocal operators with bounded measurable coefficients. Moreover, we show that a waiting‐time is required for the nonlocal parabolic Harnack inequality when local solutions ...

A nonlinear characterization of stochastic completeness of graphs

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 298, Issue 3, Page 925-943, March 2025.
Abstract We study nonlinear Schrödinger operators on graphs. We construct minimal nonnegative solutions to corresponding semilinear elliptic equations and use them to introduce the notion of stochastic completeness at infinity in a nonlinear setting. We provide characterizations for this property in terms of a semilinear Liouville theorem.

Existence and comparison results for variational-hemivariational inequalities

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2005
We consider a prototype of quasilinear elliptic variational-hemivariational inequalities involving the indicator function of some closed convex set and a locally Lipschitz functional.
