Microendovascular Neural Recording from Cortical and Deep Vessels with High Precision and Minimal Invasiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Intravascular electroencephalography (ivEEG) using micro‐intravascular electrodes was developed. Cortical‐vein ivEEG showed a higher signal‐to‐noise ratio and finer spatial resolution of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) than superior sagittal sinus ivEEG, and deep‐vein ivEEG captured clear visual evoked potentials.

Evaluation of VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 concentration and values of global tests concerning the coagulation system of patients suffering from subarachnoid haemorrage

open access: yesAnnals of Agricultural and Environmental Medicine, 2016
Introduction The term ‘subarachnoid haemorrhage’ (SAH) stands for bleeding into the subarachnoid space, regardless of its source. It may be of primary character when the source of bleeding is situated within the subarachnoid space.

Subarachnoid Space: New Tricks by an Old Dog

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Purpose The purpose of the study was to: (1) evaluate the subarachnoid space (SAS) width and pial artery pulsation in both hemispheres, and (2) directly compare magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to near-infrared transillumination/backscattering sounding ...

Clinical–Radiological Spectrum of Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy‐Related Inflammation

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective To identify clinical and radiological features of cerebral amyloid angiopathy‐related inflammation (CAA‐ri), and compare these features with those of sporadic CAA, to improve the understanding, diagnosis, and clinical care of CAA‐ri. Methods We retrospectively reviewed routine clinical data from 37 patients with CAA‐ri and 158 patients with ...

Spinal subarachnoid hemorrhage accompanied with intraventricular hemorrhage

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2013
Spinal hematoma is a rare and usually severe neurological disorder that, without adequate treatment, often leads to death or permanent neurological deficit. Epidural as well as subdural and subarachnoid hematomas have been investigated in some studies. A

Reduced subarachnoid fluid diffusion in enlarged subarachnoid spaces of infancy

open access: yesThe Neuroradiology Journal, 2017
Background and purpose Enlargement of the subarachnoid spaces in infancy (ESSI) is a common cause of macrocephaly without proven explanation. We have observed subarachnoid diffusion to be decreased in these patients. We aim to quantify the diffusivity of ventricular and subarachnoid cerebrospinal fluid in ESSI patients, to determine if diffusion ...

Production of 3D printed biomodels of the canine brain for veterinary neuroanatomy teaching

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Teaching neuroanatomy presents multiple challenges to both students and teachers, as it is a subject with highly dense content that commonly causes the development of aversion by students, a phenomenon referred to as “neurophobia,” which has been documented in human and veterinary medicine students.

Direction-selective Resistance to Cerebrospinal Fluid Flow as the Cause of Syringomyelia

open access: yesNeurologia Medico-Chirurgica
The pathophysiology of syringomyelia remains poorly understood. Two prevailing challenges stand out: the need for a comprehensive understanding of its diverse types and the yet-to-be-explained mechanism of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) retention in the ...

Appearance of the Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter (ONSD) using Higher Frequency Linear Probes in Detection and Monitoring of Raised Intracranial Pressures-A Cadaveric Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2019
Introduction: Trans-bulbar ultrasonography of Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter (ONSD) is increasingly used to detect raised Intracranial Pressures (ICP). Current guidelines for measuring ONSD are based on earlier descriptions of anatomy of optic nerve sheath ...

A Core Head, Neck, and Neuroanatomy Syllabus for Physical Therapy Student Education

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Head, neck, and neuroanatomy are essential components of physical therapy education due to their broad clinical applications. Detailed syllabi exist for medical students, yet none have been developed for physical therapy. This study aimed to produce an International Federation of Associations of Anatomists core head, neck, and neuroanatomy ...
