An observational study of pre‐hospital central venous access for patients with haemorrhagic shock due to major trauma

open access: yesAnaesthesia, Volume 81, Issue 1, Page 83-91, January 2026.
Summary Introduction Exsanguinating haemorrhagic shock due to major trauma is associated with high mortality. Rapid intravenous volume replacement with blood products is a crucial element of early treatment. When peripheral intravenous access cannot be obtained, pre‐hospital placement of a large‐calibre central venous catheter, known as a trauma line ...

An unusual arteriovenous malformation involving the cervical vessels treated with endovascular repair

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2019
We present an unusual and complex arteriovenous malformation involving the vertebral artery, subclavian artery, and internal jugular vein in a 31-year-old man with no history of trauma or catheterization. The repair was done using endovascular techniques

Outcomes of Supraclavicular Access in Temporary Pacemaker Implantation

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study compared supraclavicular versus infraclavicular venous access for temporary pacemaker implantation in 3569 patients. Supraclavicular access showed fewer complications, higher first‐attempt success, shorter procedure time, and improved complication‐free survival.

Ablation of Atrial Tachycardia in a Budd‐Chiari Syndrome Patient via Inferior Vena Cava–Azygos–Superior Vena Cava Approach

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Catheter ablation for atrial tachycardia (AT) in Budd‐Chiari syndrome (BCS) presents unique challenges due to altered venous anatomy. This case demonstrates an innovative approach to overcome complete inferior vena cava (IVC) occlusion.

COMPLICATIONS DURING A SUPRACLAVICULAR ANESTHESIA OF THE BRACHIAL PLEXUS WITH INTERSCALENE APPROACH [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A hemidiaphragmatic paresis is one of the most frequently observed complications following the supraclavicular anesthesia of the brachial plexus with interscalene approach.

Outcomes of Intravenous Normal Saline Infusion Pre‐Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices Versus No Infusion in Fasting

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 1, January 2026.
Pre‐procedural normal saline infusion significantly reduced venous puncture failure and arterial puncture in 2852 fasting CIED patients, with trends toward lower AKI. Absence of NS, high BMI, and CKD predicted failure, and model performance was strong (AUC 0.81). NS infusion appears to enhance procedural success.

Risk Factors for Bloodstream Infections in Critically Ill Children: Gram‐Negative Predominance and Complex Chronic Conditions

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 115, Issue 1, Page 73-81, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Bloodstream infections (BSIs) remain a significant cause of mortality in paediatric intensive care units (PICUs). This study aimed to identify risk factors associated with the aetiology and outcomes of hospital‐acquired BSIs. Methods This retrospective study analysed 422 blood cultures with pathogenic growth collected from patients ...

Heart rate increase results in case of positional venous entrapment

open access: yesClinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, Volume 46, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Introduction Tachycardia has previously been reported as a possible sign of neurovascular entrapment during upper‐limb abduction and assumed to result from compression of the adrenergic nerve. However, this increase in heart rate could also be caused by a vascular factor, such as venous entrapment.
