Thyroid dysfunction alters gut microbiota composition and alveolar bone levels in female mice

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, March 2026.
Abstract Thyroid hormone dysfunction has been implicated in both bone metabolism and gut microbial composition, yet the interplay between thyroid status, gut microbiota, and alveolar bone homeostasis remains unclear. In this study, female C57BL/6J mice were treated with triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) to induce hyperthyroidism or with ...

BACH2 alleviates immune checkpoint inhibitors‐induced cardiac pyroptosis via transcriptionally promoting GRSF1

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors cause elevated cardiac injuries in humans and mice. ICIs cause myocyte pyroptosis and cardiotoxicity, not via the adaptive immune system BACH2 ameliorates ICIs‐induced pyroptosis through transcriptionally promoting GRSF1. Lipoic acid, as a transcriptional inducer of BACH2, suppresses ICIs‐induced cardiotoxicity.

Artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiography contributes to hyperthyroidism detection and outcome prediction

open access: yesCommunications Medicine
Background Hyperthyroidism is frequently under-recognized and leads to heart failure and mortality. Timely identification of high-risk patients is a prerequisite to effective antithyroid therapy.

How frequently should a patient taking amiodarone be screened for thyroid dysfunction? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Amiodarone-induced thyroid dysfunction (AITD) is a common complication of amiodarone therapy and its prevalence varies according to iodine intake, subclinical thyroid disorders and the definition of AITD.

Moderately reversible dilated cardiomyopathy in a cat with presumptive spontaneous primary hypothyroidism

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract A 7‐year‐old domestic shorthair cat was presented to a primary veterinarian for evaluation of polydipsia, hyporexia and an unkempt haircoat. The cat was diagnosed with hypothyroidism based on a serum total thyroxine measured at less than 0.5 µg/dL. The cat was prescribed levothyroxine.

Gait patterns associated with thyroid function: The Rotterdam Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Gait is an important health indicator and poor gait is strongly associated with disability and risk of falls. Thyroid dysfunction is suggested as a potential determinant of gait deterioration, but this has not been explored in a population-based study ...

Exploring tear fluid biomarkers and the ocular surface in thyroid eye disease

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 1, Page e28-e38, February 2026.
Abstract Purpose To examine ocular surface changes and inflammatory tear fluid biomarkers in patients with thyroid eye disease (TED). Methods We included 106 Graves' disease (GD) patients (36 without TED, 32 with active and 38 with inactive TED) and 106 age‐ and sex‐matched healthy subjects for ophthalmological evaluation, including ocular surface ...
