Subcooled flow boiling at high heat flux
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1985Abstract In an experimental investigation of subcooled flow nucleate boiling of water at atmospheric pressure on stainless steel it was found that the heat transfer coefficient increased with increasing subcooling and also with increasing wall thickness over the range 0.08–0.20 mm.

Vapor Phase Measurements in Subcooled Boiling Flow
Journal of Heat Transfer, 2002Measurements of vapor fraction and bubble axial velocity were carried out in subcooled boiling flow using a newly designed two-sensor fiber-optic probe. The sensors encountered the axial motion of the vapor bubbles essentially head-on. The new measurements were more repeatable and had less scatter in the outer low vapor fraction region of the boiling ...

Visual Investigation of Boiling Phenomena in CHF Subcooled Flow Boiling
1999The present work collects the main results obtained in an experimental research carried out at the laboratories of the National Institute of Thermal-Fluid Dynamics of ENEA. A photographic study of the burnout in highly subcooled flow boiling has been performed, in order to get a detailed description of the flow pattern under different conditions of ...

Modeling and Simulation of Subcooled Turbulent Boiling Flow
Heat Transfer: Volume 4, 2000Abstract Modeling and numerical simulation of turbulent sub-cooled boiling flow of refrigerant-113 through a vertical concentric annular channel with its inner wall heated are reported. The two-fluid model conservation equations were solved.

Experimental Investigation of Subcooled Flow Boiling in a Minichannel
Heat Transfer Engineering, 2014The present work presents experimental results of subcooled flow boiling heat transfer phenomena in minichannels. The experiments were conducted with high surface tension liquid (water), which clearly indicates that inertial effects are important for both momentum and thermal transport in minichannels.

Subcooled Flow Boiling With Microbubble Emission in a Michrochannel
ASME 2009 Second International Conference on Micro/Nanoscale Heat and Mass Transfer, Volume 2, 2009Subcooled flow boiling of water has been investigated for the horizontal multi-microchannel of which hydraulic diameter is 150μm for unit channel. Eleven rectangular microchannels are made on a top of copper heating block of 5.25mm × 5.25mm. The outlet of the channel is opened to the atmospheric surroundings and the maximum pressure in the channel is ...

Hypervapotron technique in subcooled flow boiling CHF
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 1993Abstract Fusion reactor thermal hydraulics requires suitable techniques for the removal of extremely high heat fluxes, of the order of some tens of megawatts per square meter. One possible technique, the hypervapotron, to enhance the critical heat flux (CHF) in subcooled flow boiling (already characterized by high values of CHF) was studied using ...

A Mechanistic Model for Predicting Subcooled Boiling Flow
Volume 2: Symposia, Parts A, B, and C, 2003Population balance equations combined with a three-dimensional two-fluid model are employed to predict subcooled boiling flow at low pressure in a vertical annular channel. The MUSIG (MUltiple-SIze-Group) model implemented in CFX4.4 is extended to account for the wall nucleation and condensation in the subcooled boiling regime.

Subcooled Flow Boiling and Condensation
1994Fundamental problems in two different flow regimes; subcooled water-steam bubbly condensing flow and subcooled flow boiling, in vertical conduits under low pressure and mass flux conditions, were investigated. For subcooled water-steam condensing bubbly flow, experiments were carried out to obtain a data base for the axial distribution of area-averaged
