Analysis of isochoric subcooling
Cryobiology, 2006Because ice-I is less dense than water, the formation of an ice nucleus in an isochoric (constant volume) chamber will cause an increase in pressure. This analysis shows that the energy required to overcome such a pressure increase makes homogeneous ice nucleation thermodynamically improbable in an isochoric system at temperatures above -109 degrees C.

Subcooled Boiling of Surfactant Solutions
Heat Transfer: Volume 4, 2000Abstract During subcooled boiling of pure water and water with cationic surfactants, the motion of bubbles and the temperature of the heated surface were recorded by both a high-speed video camera and an infrared radiometer. The results show that the bubble behavior and the heat transfer mechanism for the surfactant are quite different ...

Subcooling in hexadecane emulsions
International Journal of Refrigeration, 2010Abstract When a liquid starts to solidify only when cooled well below its melting temperature, this is called subcooling. From nucleation theory, subcooling is expected to increase for small volumes due to statistics and seed isolation effects. PCM emulsions are superior in their heat transfer rates compared to larger PCM modules.

High Efficiency Subcool Condenser
SAE International Journal of Passenger Cars - Mechanical Systems, 2013<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Sustainable reduction of the CO2 emissions of future vehicles goes hand in hand with the increase in efficiency of ancillary units. Of particular importance is the reduction of fuel consumption attributed to the vehicle's air conditioning system.

Subcooling in wood of citrus seedlings
Cryobiology, 1969Summary Differences in subcooling were apparent among unhardened seedlings of citrus varieties, but differences were not a satisfactory index of varietal differences in cold hardiness ratings.

CFD-modelling of subcooled boiling
Kerntechnik, 2013Abstract In this paper new developments in the framework of a common project simulating subcooled boiling are described. The computational model used combines the Euler/Euler two-phase flow description with heat flux partitioning. Main achievements were a comprehensive study of the boiling process itself and a better description of the ...

Transportphenomena in subcooled flow boiling
Heat and Mass Transfer, 2010Subcooled boiling has been subject of extensive research studies in the literature. So far, the approach of studying the phenomena of subcooled boiling has rather been an integral method by measuring the heat transport from the wall to the liquid and by following the growth and collapse of the bubbles.

Subcooled Boiling Heat Transfer
1994Abstract After a brief comment concerning heat transfer to a single-phase liquid flowing in a channel, the remainder of this chapter is taken up with the topic of heat transfer to a flowing subcooled liquid under conditions where nucleate boiling takes place at the channel wall.
