Defects and subcritical bifurcations
Physical Review Letters, 1989In this Letter we study subcritical transitions in spatially extended systems when topological defects are present. The behavior of a single defect is discussed in the framework of Ginzburg-Landau models. We show how the transition from one stable state to the other is affected by the presence of defects. Our results, claimed to be independent of these

Experimental determination of subcriticality at subcritical PWRs in Korea
Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2010Abstract A direct subcriticality measurement system (SMS) based on the Feynman-α method has recently been developed by KEPRI. It was applied to six commercial pressurized water reactors in Korea. However, the obtained Feynman curves failed to give proper multiplication factors.

Subcritical Magnetohydrodynamic Turbulence
Physical Review Letters, 1985Numerical simulations of a simple model for ideal magnetohydrodynamic modes have shown stationary turbulence and transport at ..beta.. values substantially below the critical ..beta.. required for linear instability. The phenomenon appears to be similar to subcritical turbulence in plane-parallel pipe flow.
