Subcritical Junction Flow

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1997
The main flow features of subcritical junction flows are explored, based on an extended hydraulic model study. The flow conditions chosen resulted in flows that are governed by the Froude similarity law. So-called simple junctions with junction angles of 30°, 60°, and 90° were tested. The main emphasis was made in determining the characteristics of the

Subcritical Flow Around Bluff Bodies

AIAA Journal, 2002
Results of experimental investigations of vortex-shedding frequencies and surface pressures of circular and square cylinders with the same hydraulic diameter are described. Pressure measurements on circular and square cylindersandhot-e lm measurementsinthewakeswereconducted.

Collisionless Subcritical Shocks

2013
Subcritical shocks have Mach numbers below critical. This chapter gives a brief overview as a preparatory for the discussion of collisionless supercritical shocks in the next chapters. For subcritical shocks (anomalous) resistive or viscous dissipation in combination with dispersion is high enough to stabilise the shock transition.

SUBCRITICAL QUADRATIC NONLINEAR SCHRÖDINGER EQUATION

Communications in Contemporary Mathematics, 2011
We study the initial value problem for the quadratic nonlinear Schrödinger equation [Formula: see text] where γ > 0. Suppose that the Fourier transform [Formula: see text] of the initial data u1satisfies estimates [Formula: see text], where ε > 0 is sufficiently small. Also suppose that [Formula: see text] for |ξ| ≤ 1.

Subcritical External Potentials

1985
To prepare for the discussion of overcritical phenomena in the case of spin-0 particles, in this chapter the quantized theory of bosons in external potentials will be treated. Starting from the Hamiltonian field equations and the commutation relations for the field operators, the standard procedure of canonical quantization is outlined.

Mass-subcritical NLS

2016
The talk will address two main topics: (i) Well-posedness in the weak topology on L^2, as well as its role in proving symplectic non-squeezing in this setting. This is joint work with Monica Visan and Xiaoyi Zhang. (ii) New large-data scattering results at critical regularity; this is joint work with Satoshi Masaki, Jason Murphy, and Monica Visan.

Subcritical Crack Growth

1999
So far two types of crack extension have been considered: stable crack extension starting at K 1 =K 10 and unstable crack extension, if K 1=K 1inst is reached (or at K 1 =K 1c for a material with a flat crack growth resistance curve). A third type of crack extension is called subcritical crack extension.

Subcritical Crack Growth

1991
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses subcritical crack growth, which is usually the result of a stress-enhanced reaction between the ceramic and ambient moisture. The effect of subcritical crack growth on the strength of ceramics can be understood by using the science of fracture mechanics, which provides methods for quantifying crack growth ...

The Subcritical Phase

1989
In this chapter we consider the subcritical phase of bond percolation on L d when d ≥ 2; that is, we suppose that the edge-probability p satisfies p < p c . In this phase, all open clusters are finite almost surely and furthermore have finite mean size.
