Subcritical regimes in the Poisson Boolean model of continuum percolation
We consider the Poisson Boolean model of continuum percolation. We show that there is a subcritical phase if and only if $E(R^d)$ is finite, where $R$ denotes the radius of the balls around Poisson points and $d$ denotes the dimension.

Supercriticality to subcriticality in dynamo transitions
Evidence from numerical simulations suggest that the nature of dynamo transition changes from supercritical to subcritical as the magnetic Prandtl number is decreased.

Subcritical Water Extraction [PDF]
Extraction always involves a chemical mass transfer from one phase to another. The principles of extraction are used to advantage in everyday life, for example in making juices, coffee and others. To reduce the use of organic solvent and improve the extraction methods of constituents of plant materials, new methods such as microwave assisted extraction

Efficient collective influence maximization in cascading processes with first-order transitions
In social networks, the collective behavior of large populations can be shaped by a small set of influencers through a cascading process induced by "peer pressure". For large-scale networks, efficient identification of multiple influential spreaders with

Cygnus Performance in Subcritical Experiments [PDF]
Summary form only given. The Cygnus Dial Beam Radiographic Facility consists of two identical radiographic sources with the following specifications: 4-rad dose at 1 m, 1-mm spot size, 50-ns pulse length, 2.25-MeV endpoint energy. The facility is located in an underground tunnel complex at the Nevada Test Site.

The subcritical baroclinic instability in local accretion disc models
(abridged) Aims: We present new results exhibiting a subcritical baroclinic instability (SBI) in local shearing box models. We describe the 2D and 3D behaviour of this instability using numerical simulations and we present a simple analytical model ...

In this work we study the Poisson Boolean model of percolation in locally compact Polish metric spaces and we prove the invariance of subcritical and supercritical phases under mm-quasi-isometries.

Subcritical versus supercritical transition to turbulence in curved pipes
Transition to turbulence in straight pipes occurs in spite of the linear stability of the laminar Hagen--Poiseuille flow if the amplitude of flow perturbations as well as the Reynolds number exceed a minimum threshold (subcritical transition).

Subcritical monotone cellular automata
AbstractWe study monotone cellular automata (also known as ‐bootstrap percolation) in with random initial configurations. Confirming a conjecture of Balister, Bollobás, Przykucki and Smith, who proved the corresponding result in two dimensions, we show that the critical probability is non‐zero for all subcritical models.

Time-delayed feedback control of coherence resonance near subcritical Hopf bifurcation: theory versus experiment [PDF]
Using the model of a generalized Van der Pol oscillator in the regime of subcritical Hopf bifurcation we investigate the influence of time delay on noise-induced oscillations.
