Communication‐Efficient Modeling with Penalized Quantile Regression for Distributed Data

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
In order to deal with high‐dimensional distributed data, this article develops a novel and communication‐efficient approach for sparse and high‐dimensional data with the penalized quantile regression. In each round, the proposed method only requires the master machine to deal with a sparse penalized quantile regression which could be realized fastly by

Robust scoring rules

open access: yesTheoretical Economics, Volume 15, Issue 3, Page 955-987, July 2020., 2020
Is it possible to guarantee that the mere exposure of a subject to a belief elicitation task will not affect the very same beliefs that we are trying to elicit? In this paper, we introduce mechanisms that make it simultaneously strictly dominant for the subject (a) not to acquire any information that could potentially lead to belief updating as a ...

Optimal information disclosure: A linear programming approach

open access: yesTheoretical Economics, Volume 13, Issue 2, Page 607-635, May 2018., 2018
An uninformed sender designs a mechanism that discloses information about her type to a privately informed receiver, who then decides whether to act. I impose a single‐crossing assumption, so that the receiver with a higher type is more willing to act.

Variational Approaches to Characterize Weak Solutions for Some Problems of Mathematical Physics Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
This paper is aimed at providing three versions to solve and characterize weak solutions for Dirichlet problems involving the p‐Laplacian and the p‐pseudo‐Laplacian. In this way generalized versions for some results which use Ekeland variational principle, critical points for nondifferentiable functionals, and Ghoussoub‐Maurey linear principle have ...

A Line‐Search‐Based Partial Proximal Alternating Directions Method for Separable Convex Optimization

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
We propose an appealing line‐search‐based partial proximal alternating directions (LSPPAD) method for solving a class of separable convex optimization problems. These problems under consideration are common in practice. The proposed method solves two subproblems at each iteration: one is solved by a proximal point method, while the proximal term is ...

HQ‐I2IT: Redesign the optimization scheme to improve image quality in CycleGAN‐based image translation systems

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 507-522, 7 February 2024.
In this work, it is demonstrated that the cycle consistency loss and latent regression loss in CycleGAN‐based image translation models can be detrimental to image quality. The optimization scheme of CycleGAN‐based image translation systems is redesigned and a new translation model named HQ‐I2IT is proposed.
