Building pondscapes for amphibian metapopulations. [PDF]

open access: yesConserv Biol
Abstract The success of ponds constructed to restore ecological infrastructure for pond‐breeding amphibians and benefit aquatic biodiversity depends on where and how they are built. We studied effects of pond and landscape characteristics, including connectivity, on metapopulation dynamics of 12 amphibian species in Switzerland.

A systematic review of snake translocations to identify potential tactics for reducing postrelease effects

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 1, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Advancements in the field of reintroduction biology are needed, but understanding of how to effectively conduct translocations, particularly with snakes, is lacking. We conducted a systematic review of snake translocation studies to identify potential tactics for reducing postrelease effects. We included studies on intentional, human‐mediated,

Non‐breeding distribution and at‐sea activity patterns of the smallest European seabird, the European Storm Petrel (Hydrobates pelagicus)

open access: yesIbis, Volume 164, Issue 4, Page 1160-1179, October 2022., 2022
Determining the non‐breeding distribution and activity patterns of migratory animals is essential to understand the trade‐offs across breeding, moulting and migratory periods and to evaluate the differential levels of exposure of these animals to threats throughout the year.

Timing and magnitude of climate‐driven range shifts in transboundary fish stocks challenge their management

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 2312-2326, April 2022., 2022
We use model projections to explore the timing and intensity in the distribution of marine fish stocks that are shared across the world's Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ). Our findings suggest that many shared stocks’ distribution and catch are expected to change in most EEZs by 2030.

Detecting early‐warning signals of concern in plant populations with a Citizen Science network. Are threatened and other priority species for conservation performing worse?

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 58, Issue 7, Page 1388-1398, July 2021., 2021
The ‘Adopt a plant’ collaborative monitoring programme was launched in NE of Spain to produce standardized indices of abundance change and other early‐warning signals of concern or risk of population collapse. Such information is crucial to report the conservation status of threatened plants, and plants of Community interest (Habitats Directive).
