Paradigms in chronic subdural hematoma pathophysiology: Current treatments and new directions
Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, 2021Chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs) are an increasingly common pathology encountered in a neurosurgical trauma practice. Although the operative and nonoperative management of CSDH has been studied extensively, the recurrence rate of CSDH remains high ...

Subdural false twins: concomitant appearance of subdural haematoma and spontaneous subdural empyema
BMJ Case Reports, 2021A 55-year-old man was taken to the emergency department due to right arm weakness for the past 3 days and fever (39.5°C). There was no impaired consciousness, no history of trauma and meningeal signs were absent on physical examination. Blood analysis and inflammatory markers were not evocative of a systemic infection.

Physical aspects favour subdural registrations: as the solid angle under which a source is seen from a nearby electrode, the potential is large; there is no distortion by high impedence between source and electrode, nor by perpendicular short circuits; the frequency response is quasi-linear.

Adjunctive Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization for Subdural Hematoma.
New England Journal of MedicineBACKGROUND Subacute and chronic subdural hematomas are common and frequently recur after surgical evacuation. The effect of adjunctive middle meningeal artery embolization on the risk of reoperation remains unclear.

Different therapeutic approaches may be used in the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma because it is more fluid. Age-dependent characteristics of the calvarium allow for different treatment in children and adults. Treatment options are discussed.

Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization for Nonacute Subdural Hematoma.
New England Journal of MedicineBACKGROUND The effect of embolization of the middle meningeal artery in patients with subacute or chronic subdural hematoma is uncertain. METHODS We performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized trial in China, involving patients with symptomatic ...

Embolization of the Middle Meningeal Artery for Chronic Subdural Hematoma.
New England Journal of MedicineBACKGROUND Patients receiving standard treatment for chronic subdural hematoma have a high risk of treatment failure. The effect of adjunctive middle meningeal artery embolization on the risk of treatment failure in this population remains unknown ...

Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization for Chronic Subdural Hematoma: A Series of 60 Cases.
Neurosurgery, 2018BACKGROUND Chronic subdural hematoma (SDH) is a particularly challenging pathology due to high recurrence rates (2%-37%) and complex medical comorbidities that tend to afflict the patient population.

Cranial subdural migrating to lumbar subdural space in a toddler
BMJ Case Reports, 2022Migrated spinal subdural haematoma (sSDH) is a significantly uncommon finding. This case involves a paediatric patient representing after cranial trauma with new abnormal gait and leg pain who was found to have a migrated sSDH. Literature review for reported cases of pathogenesis theories, causes and management was performed and summarised in this ...

BACKGROUND The use of a subdural drain (SDD) after burr-hole drainage of chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) reduces recurrence at 6 mo. Subperiosteal drains (SPDs) are considered safer, since they are not positioned in direct contact to cortical structures,
