Arachnoid Cyst With Spontaneous Subdural Hematoma and Intracystic Hemorrhage in a Child

open access: yes, 2013
Arachnoid cysts are non-tumorus fluid collections due to abnormality in the embryonic development of the arachnoid membrane. In this study, a surgically treated arachnoid cyst that presented with intracystic hemorrhage and subdural hematoma developed ...

Association Between Post-Dural Puncture Headache After Neuraxial Anesthesia in Childbirth and Intracranial Subdural Hematoma.

open access: yesJAMA Neurology, 2020
Importance Women giving birth have high rates of dural puncture secondary to neuraxial anesthesia and are at high risk for a resulting headache. It appears to be unknown whether there is a significant association between post-dural puncture headache and ...

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Coexistence of ipsilateral acute‐on‐chronic subdural hematoma and acute extradural hematoma: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2023
Chronic subdural hematomas are typically observed in elderly patients receiving antithrombotic and/or anticoagulant therapy. In contrast, acute subdural and extradural hematomas are often observed in young people with traumatic brain injury.

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

Continuous spinal anaesthesia with minimally invasive haemodynamic monitoring for surgical hip repair in two patients with severe aortic stenosis

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Anestesiologia, 2016
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Aortic stenosis increases perioperative morbidity and mortality, perioperative invasive monitoring is advised for patients with an aortic valve area 30 mm Hg and it is important to avoid hypotension and arrhythmias.

The Nelaton Catheter Guard for Safe and Effective Placement of Subdural Drain for Two-Burr-Hole Trephination in Chronic Subdural Hematoma: A Technical Note

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND For chronic subdural hematoma, placement of a Blake drain with a two-burr-hole craniotomy is often preferred. However, the placement of such drains carries the risk of penetrating the brain surface or damaging superficial venous structures.
