Dura mater‐preserving technique for fetal brain extraction after intrauterine death with prolonged retention

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Examination of the fetal brain represents a crucial step in the diagnostic assessment of fetal death in utero, particularly in cases of unexplained intrauterine fetal death (IUFD). Prolonged intrauterine retention, advanced autolysis, and the intrinsic structural immaturity of the fetal brain frequently compromise tissue integrity, limiting ...

Recognizing Signs of Abusive Head Trauma

open access: yesJournal of Paediatrics and Child Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Abusive head trauma (AHT) remains the leading cause of fatal traumatic brain injury in infants and young children. Diagnosis is frequently delayed or missed due to nonspecific clinical presentation and unreliable histories, making neuroimaging a critical component of the diagnostic process. Objective This review synthesises computed

Atrophic Papulosis: A Systematic Review of Pediatric Cases

open access: yesPediatric Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Atrophic papulosis is a rare occlusive vasculopathy that can present with isolated cutaneous disease or with systemic involvement. Pediatric cases are uncommon, and existing reports are heterogeneous, limiting understanding of disease patterns, timing of organ involvement, and outcomes.

Safety and Effectiveness of a High‐Dose, Tailored Tissue Plasminogen Activator Therapy Protocol: A Joint Pediatric Hematology and Cardiac ICU Quality Improvement Initiative Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 73, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric thromboembolism is increasingly encountered in critical care. Systemic thrombolysis with tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) facilitates vessel or valve patency, yet pediatric‐specific protocols remain undefined, and safety concerns persist. Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a tailored, prolonged systemic tPA

De Novo 2.2 Mb 19q13.42–q13.43 Microdeletion Encompassing U2AF2: Support for a Haploinsufficiency Model

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 10, Page 2350-2356, October 2026.
ABSTRACT U2 small nuclear RNA auxiliary factor 2 (U2AF2) is an essential pre‐mRNA splicing factor involved in the early stages of pre‐mRNA splicing. To date, multiple individuals have been reported with predominantly heterozygous missense variants presenting intellectual disability, speech and motor delays, seizures, hypotonia, and thin or hypoplastic ...

The potential role of T-cells and their interaction with antigen-presenting cells in mediating immunosuppression following trauma-hemorrhage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Objective: Trauma-hemorrhage results in depressed immune responses of antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and T-cells. Recent studies suggest a key role of depressed T-cell derived interferon (IFN)-g in this complex immune cell interaction.

Culture‐Negative Infective Endocarditis Presumed due to Brucella Causing Rapid Native Aortic Valve Destruction in a Young Adult: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Culture‐negative endocarditis with features consistent with Brucella can rapidly destroy a normal aortic valve in young adults. 2023 Duke‐ISCVID criteria (clinical/imaging findings plus histopathology), supported by serology and occupational exposure enabled urgent combined antimicrobial‐surgical management without culture confirmation ...

A Rare Instance of Adult Medulloblastoma Presenting Imaging Heterogeneity Correlating With Molecular Subtypes and Anatomical Locations

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT We report an adult medulloblastoma presenting as two imaging‐distinct lesions: a uniformly enhancing torcular mass (WNT‐activated) and a non‐enhancing cerebellar tumor (SHH‐activated). A cohort analysis confirmed torcular location favors uniform enhancement, mimicking meningioma.
