Middle meningeal artery embolization with N-Butyl Cyanoacrylate (NBCA) for the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma – Technical note

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Neurosurgery, 2022
Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is classically defined as a collection of blood in the space between the dura mater and arachnoid meninges. Endovascular treatment for selected cases of chronic subdural hematoma has been increasingly reported in the ...

A case of acute spinal subdural hematoma with subarachnoid hemorrhage: Rapid spontaneous remission, relapse, and complete resolution

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Neurosurgery, 2017
Acute spinal subdural hematoma (SSDH) is a rare entity that is usually managed as a surgical emergency; however, we present a case of acute SSDH that resolved rapidly and spontaneously.

Endless-Loop Craniotomy for Revision Surgery After the Burr-Hole Evacuation of Chronic Subdural Hematoma—A Technical Note

open access: yesSurgical Techniques Development
Background and Importance: Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is a common and complex neurosurgical problem, particularly in elderly patients. Revision surgery for chronic subdural hematoma can be challenging, particularly in cases with inhomogeneous, firm

Epidemiological Features of Patients with Subdural Hygroma in a Prospective Case Series

open access: yesBrazilian Neurosurgery, 2017
Subdural hygroma is an accumulation of a cerebrospinal fluid-like fluid in the subdural space. It is a common epiphenomenon after a traumatic brain injury (TBI), but it may also occur after brain surgeries.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

A ruptured posterior communicating artery aneurysm presenting as tentorial and spinal isolated subdural hemorrhage: a case report and literature review

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2020
Background Ruptured intracranial aneurysms are often associated with subarachnoid or intraparenchymal hemorrhage. However, the prevalence of subdural hemorrhage post aneurysmal rupture is low and rarely reported in scientific studies.

Acute Intracranial Subdural Hematoma Masquerading as a Postpartum Headache: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Practice and Cases in Emergency Medicine, 2023
Introduction: An acute subdural hematoma is a collection of blood in the space between the dural and arachnoid membranes overlying the brain. Head trauma is the most common cause. Less frequently, low cerebrospinal fluid pressure, due to a spontaneous or

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

De Novo 2.2 Mb 19q13.42–q13.43 Microdeletion Encompassing U2AF2: Support for a Haploinsufficiency Model

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT U2 small nuclear RNA auxiliary factor 2 (U2AF2) is an essential pre‐mRNA splicing factor involved in the early stages of pre‐mRNA splicing. To date, multiple individuals have been reported with predominantly heterozygous missense variants presenting intellectual disability, speech and motor delays, seizures, hypotonia, and thin or hypoplastic ...
