Tumor Transplantation to the Subdural Space of Heterologous Hosts.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1951
SummaryMouse Sarcoma 37 was transplanted to the subdural space of 14 guinea pigs. Evidence of growth was present in all animals sacrificed between the 2nd and 18th day after transplantation. One animal died at the end of the third week, apparently as the result of invasion of the brain by tumor tissue.

Comparison of volume‐ and surface‐based magnetic resonance imaging morphometry algorithms in the detection of focal cortical dysplasia

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Detection of focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) remains a major challenge in presurgical epilepsy diagnostics. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) morphometry increasingly improves lesion detection and postsurgical outcomes. The volume‐based Morphometric Analysis Program, version 2018 (MAP18) with integrated artificial neural network and ...

AI‐based localization of the epileptogenic zone using intracranial EEG

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming our lives. Machine learning (ML) enables computers to learn from data and make decisions without explicit instructions. Deep learning (DL), a subset of ML, uses multiple layers of neural networks to recognize complex patterns in large datasets through end‐to‐end learning.

Detection of interictal epileptiform discharges using multiple bilateral insertions of a newly developed microcatheter‐compatible endovascular electroencephalogram electrode: A clinical feasibility trial

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To assess the feasibility, technical performance, and safety of a novel endovascular electroencephalogram (eEEG) electrode, EP‐01, designed for minimally invasive seizure localization in patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy. Methods This single‐center, prospective, exploratory trial enrolled five patients with drug‐resistant ...

Brain–Computer Interfaces: The Dawn of a New Era in Disease Treatment

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
This study investigates the potential of brain–computer interface (BCI) technology in treating neuropsychiatric disorders, such as movement and communication barriers. Our review examines the history, signal paradigms, and diverse applications of BCI while also discussing ongoing research into novel materials and emerging technologies that offer ...

Case Report: Subgaleal drainage removal results in a fatal complication after burr-hole evacuation of chronic subdural hematoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery
Placement of a drain in subgaleal space in the management of chronic subdural hematomas is a common technique. Subgaleal drains are considered a safe, effective and minimally invasive technique with low-complication rate.

A case of recurrent gliosarcoma mimicking subdural hematoma

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Neurosurgery, 2019
The authors present the case of a patient who after undergoing craniotomy for glioblastoma resection was found to have gliosarcoma recurrence in the subdural space without intraparenchymal recurrence. A 74-year old man originally presented with the first
