Helophorus dracomontanus sp. n. is described from the Tibetan Plateau near Kangding, Sichuan, China. It is a member of the subgenus Helophorus s. str. but the anterolateral part of the pronotum resembles subgenus Gephelophorus Sharp, 1915.
