Mix Proportion of Fly Ash Concrete Based on the Strength Contribution Ratio

open access: yesJAPAN ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW, Volume 9, Issue 1, January–December 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aims to expand the use of fly ash concrete (FAC). Based on an experimental investigation of k values or the contribution of FA addition to the strength of ordinary Portland cement or Portland blast‐furnace slag cement type B, we propose and validate an environmentally friendly mix design for FAC.

Multi‐Resolution Deep Learning for Coupler Force Prediction in 20,000‐Ton Heavy‐Haul Trains

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study presents a deep learning framework for predicting coupler forces in 20,000‐ton heavy‐haul trains using simulation‐generated datasets. A novel multi‐resolution dual‐stream LSTM (MRDS‐LSTM) model captures both short‐ and long‐term temporal features, outperforming representative baselines such as RNN, GRU, LSTM, Bi‐LSTM, and CNN‐LSTM.

Photovoltaic‐Assisted Energy Optimization for High‐Speed Train Performance in South Africa Intercity Electric Rail Corridors

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
ABSTRACT Decarbonizing the intercity rail in sub‐Saharan Africa requires the use of energy architectures that go beyond traditional grid reliance at the expense of traction performance. This paper introduces a novel photovoltaic (PV)‐assisted hybrid traction topology for a 42 km Pretoria–Sandton rail corridor in South Africa, where between‐rail PV ...
