Systemic risk in the insurance sector: A semi‐parametric approach based on Spearman's rho

open access: yesRisk Management and Insurance Review, EarlyView.
Abstract We propose a new method to measure systemic risk in the global insurance sector by analyzing interconnectedness among firms under different market conditions. Using a semi‐parametric approach that relies on the Spearman correlation and copula‐based partial dependence, we assess relationships in relatively stable, extremely bullish, and ...

Interval identification of natural effects in the presence of outcome‐related unmeasured confounding

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract With reference to a binary outcome and a binary mediator, we derive identification bounds for natural effects under a reduced set of assumptions. Specifically, no assumptions about confounding are made that involve the outcome; we only assume no unobserved exposure‐mediator confounding as well as a pair of conditions termed Partially Constant ...

Simple 3‐Designs of PSL ( 2 , 2 n ) With Block Size 13

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Designs, Volume 34, Issue 3, Page 119-138, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper focuses on the investigation of simple 3‐( 2 n + 1 , 13 , λ ) designs admitting PSL ( 2 , 2 n ) as an automorphism group. Such designs arise from the orbits of 13‐element subsets under the action of PSL ( 2 , 2 n ) on the projective line X = GF ( 2 n ) ∪ { ∞ }, and any union of these orbits also forms a 3‐design.

Helly numbers of Algebraic Subsets of $\mathbb R^d$

open access: yes, 2015
We study $S$-convex sets, which are the geometric objects obtained as the intersection of the usual convex sets in $\mathbb R^d$ with a proper subset $S\subset \mathbb R^d$. We contribute new results about their $S$-Helly numbers.

Toward Psychometric Learning Analytics: Augmenting the Urnings Algorithm with Response Times

open access: yesJournal of Educational Measurement, Volume 63, Issue 1, Spring 2026.
Abstract Adaptive learning systems (ALS) aim to tailor the educational material to match the student's needs, ultimately improving the learning outcomes. An ALS dynamically adjust the level of practice based on the student's ability; therefore, obtaining accurate ability estimates is crucial.

Entropy rigidity for cusped Hitchin representations

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract We establish an entropy rigidity theorem for Hitchin representations of geometrically finite Fuchsian groups which generalizes a theorem of Potrie and Sambarino for Hitchin representations of closed surface groups. In the process, we introduce the class of (1,1,2)‐hypertransverse groups and show for such a group that the Hausdorff dimension of

Who is willing to pay a premium for leafy greens produced by indoor agriculture? A comparative choice experiment with US consumers

open access: yesAgribusiness, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 3-28, Winter 2026.
Abstract Indoor agriculture (IA) presents a pathway to producing leafy greens more sustainably by strictly controlling the growing environment, increasing the efficiency of water and land resources use, reducing pesticide application, and enhancing quality characteristics.

Mathematical Modeling of Amoxicillin Synthesis in Batch and Semi‐Batch Reactor: Application of Bayesian Statistics and Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 1, Page 104-115, January 2026.
Synthesis of amoxicillin: The reaction catalyzed by penicillin G acylase is investigated in an enzymatic reactor, considering both Michaelis–Menten and mechanism‐based models with reaction and equilibrium constants. Parameters are estimated via MCMC and Genetic Algorithm, with MCMC showing superior performance in validating the mathematical model in a ...

A Cross‐Cultural and Developmental Investigation of the Association Between Color and Temperature

open access: yesColor Research &Application, Volume 51, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT The perception of colors involves many contexts in which human beings develop connections. Colors and temperatures are seemingly unrelated concepts, yet our brains have created ways of linking them. According to the literature, primarily from Western cultures, colors such as red and yellow are typically associated with warmth, whereas blue is ...

Clinical Outcomes and Patient Profiles in the UK Medical Cannabis Registry: A k‐Means Clustering Analysis

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 66, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract There is a paucity of high‐quality evidence on the clinical efficacy of cannabis‐based medicinal products (CBMPs). The objective of this study was to perform trajectory k‐means clustering of health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) outcomes in patients prescribed CBMPs to identify distinct response patterns and baseline predictors of treatment ...
