Automorphisms of Some Magmas of Order $k+k^2$
This paper is devoted to the study of automorphisms of finite magmas and to the representation of the symmetric permutation group $ S_k $ and some of its subgroups by automorphism groups of finite magmas.

Symmetries of the refined D1/D5 BPS spectrum
We examine the large N 1/4-BPS spectrum of the symmetric orbifold CFT Sym N (M ) deformed to the supergravity point in moduli space for M = K3 and T 4.

The Sylow Subgroups of the Symmetric Group [PDF]
In the Sylow theorems t we learn that if the order of a group 9 is divisible by pa (p a prime integer) and not by pa+l, then W contains one and only one set of conjugate subgroups of order pa , and any subgroup of W whose order is a power of p is a subgroup of some member of this set of conjugate subgroups of W.

particular representation by means of "reduced polynomials."' It has seemed worth while to restate some of his results using the concept of complete product L o M of two permutation groups L, M which he and Krasner have recently emphasised.2 This elementary notion is of great importance in the theory of finite groups and it appears in the literature in

The depth of Young subgroups of symmetric groups
For a subgroup \(H\) of a finite group \(G\), the depth of the inclusion \(H\leqslant G\) is the minimum depth of the inclusion of the group algebras \(\mathbb CH\subseteq\mathbb CG\). Let \(n\in\mathbb N\) and take \(G=\mathfrak S_n\), the symmetric group of degree \(n\). For appropriate values of \(k\in\mathbb N\) there exist Young subgroups of \(G\)

Character Theory of Symmetric Groups and Subgroup Growth of Surface Groups [PDF]
Summary: Results from the character theory of symmetric groups are used to obtain an asymptotic estimate for the subgroup growth of fundamental groups of closed 2-manifolds. The main result implies an affirmative answer, for the class of groups investigated, to a question of Lubotzky's concerning the relationship between the subgroup growth of a one ...

Hecke Groups, Dessins d'Enfants and the Archimedean Solids
Grothendieck's dessins d'enfants arise with ever-increasing frequency in many areas of 21st century mathematical physics. In this paper, we review the connections between dessins and the theory of Hecke groups. Focussing on the restricted class of highly
