Wearable Morphology‐Adaptive in‐Ear Device With Active Cleansing Capability for Multimodal Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present SCIENCE, an in‐ear multimodal physiological monitor featuring two key innovations. Water‐triggered morphological expansion (a 2‐mm cylinder to a 9‐mm spindle) achieves conformal adaptation across complex canal geometries. Simultaneously, active biofouling mitigation disrupts cerumen barriers, reducing sensor‐skin impedance by 20%.

Soft Robotic Excretory Care Simulator for Nursing Education: Functional and Perceptual Biomimetics Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A soft robotic simulator is developed to replicate the digital removal of feces (DRF), a sensitive yet essential nursing procedure. Integrating soft actuators, sensors, and a realistic rectal model, the simulator balances functional fidelity with perceptual realism. Engineering evaluations and nurse feedback confirm its potential to enhance training in

Subjective socioeconomic status moderates depression's impact on fairness perception in the ultimatum game: A moderated mediation model.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Individuals with depression often exhibit cognitive distortions in socioeconomic decision-making, particularly in interpreting fairness. However, the role of subjective socioeconomic status in shaping these distortions remains underexplored.

AI‐Powered Framework for Evaluating Drug Efficacy for Three‐Dimensional In Vitro Cancer Models in Robot‐Assisted Production

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
An AI‐powered, robot‐assisted framework automatically produces, images, and analyzes 3D tumor spheroids to evaluate drug efficacy. Integrated modules handle spheroid formation, live/dead staining, brightfield imaging, and automated image analysis, including spheroid segmentation, viability and metrics to assess the drug treatment efficacy. The workflow

Auditory–Tactile Congruence for Synthesis of Adaptive Pain Expressions in RoboPatients

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this work, we explore auditory–tactile congruence for synthesizing adaptive vocal pain expressions in robopatients. Using a robopatient platform that integrates vocal pain sounds with palpation forces, we conducted 7680 trials across 20 participants.

Subjective Survival Probabilities in the Health and Retirement Study: Systematic Biases and Predictive Validity [PDF]

open access: yes
Recent research has demonstrated that retirement planning and well-being are closely tied to probabilistic forecasts about future events. Using longitudinal data from the Health and Retirement Study, I show that individuals’ subjective survival forecasts

Multimodal Engagement Assessment in Children During Invented Story Paradigm With a Social Robot

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimodal framework is proposed to assess children's engagement during storytelling interactions with a social robot. Gaze, physiological, and behavioral data are combined and validated against observer ratings. An automated gaze‐labeling strategy is introduced, and supervised classifiers achieve high accuracy. The study supports scalable engagement

Muscle Control of an Extra Robotic Digit

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study compares muscle‐ and movement‐based control for operating a supernumerary robotic thumb. While movement control performs better in the proposed tasks, muscle‐based (EMG) control promotes broader motor learning. The results highlight the promise and challenges of using biosignals for human augmentation, offering new insights into intuitive ...
