Subliminal Stimulation and Cognitive and Motor Performance
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1990The present experiment investigated whether subliminally exposed messages affect cognitive and motor performance and whether personality factors can explain interindividual differences in this respect. According to Silverman (1983), people have a symbiotic fantasy, that is, a need for symbiotic oneness with the mother figure.

Effects of Subliminal Stimulation on Imagery and Discrimination
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1963In two separate investigations ( Ns = 13, 24), Ss drew spontaneously arising images after exposure of a subliminal visual stimulus. They then tried to discriminate the stimulus when it was again exposed subliminally. While the stimuli exerted a marked effect on Ss' images, they failed to influence Ss' discriminatory ability.

Use of Subliminal Stimulation to Enhance Learning Mathematics
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 199224 students, who participated in a summer session mathematics enrichment program, viewed subliminally presented messages. Prior to each class, the experimental group of 16 viewed a subliminally presented psychoanalytic merging message and the control group of 8 viewed a neutral message. After 20 sessions students were retested.

Physiognomic Effects of Subliminal Stimulation
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 196624 Ss were tachistoscopically shown a series of nonsense figures in a counterbalanced design in which half of the figures were preceded by the subliminal word “angry” and half by a blank. Ss rated each figure on an “angriness” scale that indicated how “angry” the figure looked. Ss also rated themselves on the Sarason Hostility Scale.
